"Rob is fantastic. He is very professional and willing to help out where needed. He did a great job of explaining fireplace operations to myself who knows nothing about it. He even cleaned up some broken glass outside near our fireplace."

"Bryce and his crew showed up on time at 8:30am and stayed until the job was completed at 7:30pm.  The were hard-working, conscientious and took pride in their work.  They cleaned up their work area so it didn't look like anyone had been there.  They made sure both systems were working properly before they left, regardless of how late it was.  We obtained several quotes before making this large investment, and this group was well below anyone else for the same name brand system.  I would highly recommend Bryce and his crew to anyone who asked for references.

We had 3 bids all through Angie's List, one of the companies Granite Outlet II that  we had used before. The other two bids were from Solid Stone Fab. and KAT Fab

Most of the bids were similar, except all of the companies provided different prices for removal, sink cutout, plumbing for rehook-up of sink, and rehooking up stove top.

Granite Outlet II had a plumber in-house. Solid Stone had a recommendation for a plumber and KAT didn't provide a recommendation.

We kept our backslash and KAT was the only company that had an issue with cutting it down if needed. And it was cut to allow for the quartz.

We chose Solid Stone Fabricators because we trusted Claudia to do a good job for us. She was very attuned to our needs and anytime we asked her a question if she didn't already know it she got right back with us. She took good notes and made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. She was very professional and a pleasure to work with. We went to see the where the countertops were fabricated at Solid Stone and we also went to Cambria Quartz in Carrollton and looked at the Quartz we wanted and received large samples there.

They came out and measured and showed up on time, then we scheduled for the install.

The installers showed up at their scheduled time and finished in less then 5 hours. The next morning the plumber came and hooked the sink and stove back up.

Claudia came out a few days later and bought us our extra quartz. its VERY heavy but we wanted to keep it and they also made us a cutting board.

I LOVE MY COUNTERTOPS AND NEW GRANITE SINK!

"Everyone at Signature was professional and easy to work with. MJ, Emily, and Greg were especially helpful with choosing materials. Everyone was punctual, professional and skilled.  Hiring a company that employs the cabinet makers, electricians, plumbers, drywall installers, painters, tile setters, etc. is an advantage because when something goes wrong, they can't blame another company. I thought an all inclusive company would be an advantage in scheduling and prioritizing the work, but I'm not so sure it helped. This should have been a 3 week project, but it lasted 7 weeks instead of 3. It was an inconvenience, but the result was worth waiting for.  I am very pleased with the quality of work and beauty of the design. All the employees were patient with me and did all they could to assure the end product would be what I wanted. The company accomodated our financial restrictions and did this work as a "Phase One" project, without insisting that the entire kitchen be upgraded at once.
The estimate was accurate. We paid only for an overage on the backsplash tile allocation and adding painting of the walls. My major disappointment is that the island footprint is basically what we had. The footprint could have been extended to provide a little more storage - that's why I picked a company who builds custom cabinets -, but although the cabinets are very beautiful, they are a standard size.  Also, the island could have been built an inch or two higher (it's about 1/2 inch lower than the other cabinets). It looks strangely low from the living area. I would think that with the experience Signature has, they would have anticipated this.
Overall, I think Signature does excellent work, the staff and workers are proffessional and friendly, and I'm planning to use them again.

FAQs for fireplace and wood stove service projects in Florence, TX

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.

Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.

Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.

Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.

Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
