"I highly recommend Remodeling Concepts. We needed two floors in our house re-done ? one in tile, and one in hardwood. The hardwood floor was tricky as it needed to be leveled (it was on a severe slant) and then surfaced with the hardwood. We also needed 3 doors to be hung ? two of which were bi-folds, one of which was a solid slab traditional.
Derek from Remodeling Concepts came out to our house and gave us a free estimate. He was professional and thorough and when we presented him with a challenging project ? an extremely uneven 2nd story floor that needed to be leveled and re-surfaced, he confidently talked us through his plan for tackling the job, without hesitation. We were very happy to see that he was not troubled at all by the complicated project this room presented. We were able to schedule days of work with Remodeling Concepts in a timely fashion. Work began promptly on a Thursday morning (at about 8am) and the crew was done by Saturday 6pm. The tile floor was beautifully laid (thanks to Nick of Remodeling Concepts) and the grout work is gorgeous. The guys were great about moving the heavy pieces that I could not move (the washer and dryer unit, as well as some standing cabinet shelves in the laundry room ? an old oak desk and bookshelves and a small sofa in the upstairs room with the hardwood floor). They were neat and tidy and made sure to clean up at the end of every day ? which was great. Again, the tile floor is simply stunning and we?ve both been very impressed with the work done in that room.
Equally, we are impressed with the solution Derek devised for the room that needed to be leveled. It was a tricky one, because the significant slant was about a 3? difference from one end of the room to the other, but there was also a more subtle slant in the perpendicular direction, which was not nearly as perceptible without a level, but was certainly there. Derek custom cut floor length long shims (wedges, really) to lay across the existing joists and was able to bring the floor to level through his careful calculations and deft work with the wood. He and his team (Anthony, Nick and Eddie) then laid the hardwood ? well, engineered wood we chose in the end, because we did not want to raise the floor more than we absolutely had to ? which now is about 4? above all the existing floors on the 2nd floor. They put in the engineered wood and the room looks absolutely beautiful as well. I actually want to work in there (it?s a study) and I no longer need to shim ALL the furniture in the room as everything is level as it should be. There was an issue with floor ? it was somehow a bit higher in one corner of the room ? and Derek came back out to our house and within a day had resolved this issue. Derek was prompt about returning to make
the adjustment and was efficient and it meant a lot to both of us that he was true to his word, timely, and professional.
In addition to the floors, we had asked Derek to hang a few doors for us. One door was simple and looks great ? it is exactly as we pictured it. The other door was a true challenge, as the opening for the door was not square at all (this is an old house ? 1905 ? so nothing in it is really square anymore!). He was able to carefully cut a new frame to fit and even was able to make some new trim to work with the door. It fits flawlessly in to the opening now and again, is exactly as we imagined it. The work he and his guys (Anthony and Eddie) put into the doors is incredible and certainly has paid off. The final door Derek made himself, a basic flat panel bi-fold door. It had to fit into a 28? space and the smallest bi-folds come 30? and cutting them down to 28? cuts their frames entirely, leaving you with bi-fold door pieces. When Derek came back to address the small issue with
the floor, he built and hung this door for us. It is wonderful and is what we were hoping for in that space.
Again, we have been absolutely pleased with the work Remodeling Concepts has done in our home. Each individual we have interacted with from the company has been knowledgeable, amiable, efficient, professional and very skilled. Scheduling the work was simple and they?ve been great about working with our schedule, while providing us with prompt service. We are
certainly thinking about asking Remodeling Concepts to complete a few other projects for us, as we have been impressed and happy with the work they have done and our experiences with the company.

"As usual, Alan showed up as scheduled and did a thorough walk-around to detail the work that needed to be done. Candi had the contract done the next morning and the carpenters showed up two days later as promised. Bucky and Max worked a full day and did a great job. They not only fixed the superficial rotted wood, but went down to the support structure and made repairs. They used good quality materials and were very happy to explain to me how they were making the repairs. The porches are on a Victorian Style house and they were able to make the repairs while maintaining the decorative style. Bucky's skill and workmanship really came through on the work done on the front porch. Max really did a great job replacing the shakes and fascia boards on the back porch. He also did a nice job replacing the outside door to the basement. This was a professional and quality job through and through."
