"The quality of the work was excellent. The cost was exactly what he said it would be (the electrician was a little more than expected but that was due to the age of the house and extra rewiring needed), he completed the work in the timeframe he gave us and was professional throughout despite having to work through the COVID19 stay at home order."

"Ryan was wonderful to work with. The quality of his work was excellent, and I was very happy with the finished result. The tile company I ordered the tile from made a mistake in my order, and it had to be reordered. Ryan was great at checking on the status of the delivery and picked it up as soon as it arrived and worked hard to complete the job on time. I would highly recommend him."

"Because I had purchased a Big Deal, they were booked pretty far out to do a chimney inspection. That didn't matter to us since we aren't using our fireplace anyway, we were just curious to see if we could. The technician arrived on time and was extremely personable and friendly. A quick inspection showed that our chimney was fine, but the fireplace could use a little bit of work before we use it. We aren't ready to spend that money right now, but it's good to know that nothing is falling apart up there. He was also able to answer a few questions I had and I was really happy with the experience. When we are ready to do the fire box work we'll call them again.

"Everything went as scheduled.  The workers were respectful of our property and always cleaned up the area before they left for the day.  Damian Greene took care of details that we didn't even think about.   We would highly recommend Greene Construction for any home remodeling project that you are considering.  We would definitely use them again.

"Difficult job - in hind-sight, both doors should have been replaced. Original bid was for replacement of one of the doors and repair of the other.  The repairman decided to attempt repair of both doors.

FAQs for fireplace and wood stove service projects in Minneapolis, MN

Some cities, like New York City, ban wood-burning fireplaces altogether. In places like Colorado and the California Bay Area, laws dictate when you can use your wood-burning fireplace based on air quality. Since regulations vary by location, it's best to consult a local contractor familiar with your area's laws. You can also check the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website for state ordinances and regulations.

Yes, you can add a fireplace to your existing home, but it requires careful planning and professional evaluation. You'll need to construct a safe chimney, ensure proper ventilation, and comply with local building codes and HOA regulations. This project involves significant structural modifications and specialized labor, so hiring a qualified fireplace contractor is essential to ensure safety and code compliance.

Fireplaces enhance a home's value because they create a warm and inviting atmosphere while adding a distinctive architectural feature. A fireplace not only elevates a residence’s appeal but also contributes to greater market value. Industry research confirms that homes with fireplaces command higher sale prices, and homeowners benefit from an improved living environment.

Yes, installing a fireplace increases your home insurance costs because it raises the risk of fire and may require additional coverage. A fireplace demands dedicated safety inspections and documented maintenance, and insurers enforce stricter requirements, which drive higher premiums. Homeowners must consult their insurance providers and adhere to regular inspection schedules to manage these increased costs.
