"We were delighted by the work of Chad and Nicole. We converted a wood burning fireplace in our lower level to gas logs. The upstairs fireplace has an insert which they removed with care only to find the installers of the insert (not Envision) placed it on a plywood base (not a good mix - heat and wood). So in addition to installing the gas line with precision and getting us a log set that is beautiful, they reset the inert on cement board and made the house safer. Envision is awesome. Their prices are great and worth every penny."

"Aaron was great. He was polite, friendly and quite knowledgeable. He made sure to get the correct parts so everything fit together properly. He stayed until the job was completed. Then he patiently took the time to go over the operation of the new thermostat with us until we understood exactly how it worked."

"I am currently in the process of buying my first home and JJ Inspection Service made the process extremely simple. I needed the inspection done within a very short time frame (shorter than the standard ten day inspection period). Justin was able to get me a slot within my window despite already being busy and did a great job. He invited me to tag along on the inspection (not just come afterwards and get the summary report). I took him up on the invitation and I am glad I did. He walked me through the process of what type of issues he is looking for and why and also recommended ways to correct the problem and provided needed information for maintenance. One area of concern I had in my house is the skylight in the kitchen. I had noticed before that it looked like it had water spots on the decorative wood paneling around it. He did tell me they are notorious for leaking. I got pretty nervous at this point but soon had my anxiety put to rest. Justin used a moisture detector to check the various surfaces of the skylight and quickly determined that the water spots were from a past leak that had already been fixed. He also recommended a furnace cleaning/service because the furnace wasn't quite up to what he would like to see even though it could have been easily overlooked because it wasn't a large issue. Justin also made the report available online through an email link that doesn't expire (very handy) and told me not to hesitate to call with any questions or concerns. Overall Justin was great, very informative and easy to talk to. He made what has already been a great first home-buying experience even better! Thank you Justin!"

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.
Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.
Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.
Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.
Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
