"The job was done but it is very sloppy. There?s slurry and mortar all over the chimney and we are not confident it?s properly repaired. We have hired a different contractor to re-do the one fixed by Shamrock as well as the 2nd chimney that also needs repair. The tech from Shamrock was a nice guy he but didn?t do the work; his assistant did the work and its a mess."

Customers say: Quality work
"Bill was very friendly and knowledable. He initially talked us through several trouble shooting scenarios and then came out quickly when those things didnâ  t work. He took care of the problem, taught us a few things and cleaned up after himself. Happy to have a working gas fireplace!"

"They did a very nice job. My fireplace looked like new. I had some trouble with the pilot light and now it works really well. They were very prompt. I have had them out since then to replace a chimney cap. I will use them again."

"This was my first experience getting my chimney cleaned. Lee arrived early, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job! He protected the area surrounding the fireplace to prevent anything from getting on the furniture. I will be using Lee for any of my fireplace needs and recommending him to my family, friends, and neighbors. Thanks Lee!!!

"We picked out the slate tile we wanted and began the process of desiging. We had an idea of how we wanted it to look but had some concerns due to an irregular size fireplace. We sent Nosh a picture of our fireplace and the next day, he met us at the tile shop to help us complete the design. He was very professional and knowledgeable and had a keen eye for what looked right. He had excellent suggestions and his input proved to be invaluable as some of our ideas would not have worked. He installed the tile in one day and It looks absolutely awesome! He was fast and efficient and cleaned up thoroughly upon completion. We are extremely happy with his work and plan on using him again for our bathroom.

"D&F was really easy to work with. Our person, Demaris, was knowledgeable and kind. He gave us important advice on keeping our gas fireplace clean and safe from carbon monoxide. He was prompt and cleaned up the area after himself. I was worried that cleaning a chimney would result in a mess. Not the case. Demaris made sure it was ready for use. I highly recommend this provider."

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.
Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.
Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.
Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.
Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
