"The representative from Basement Systems showed up right on time and got right to work taking measurements and asking questions about the space where the work was to be done. When he was done, he came back upstairs and presented very detailed drawings of the proposed work, which included a perimeter drainage system with redundant sump pumps in a newly-dug pit, which would feed into a pop-up outlet in the back yard. The sales pitch was similar to the others we had seen, where we were educated on how water gets into the basement, understanding hydrostatic pressure against the home's foundation, and where water wants to go.
A few days after receiving the quote, we asked for him to come back and give us a quote for a gravity-fed system, rather than a sump-pump system. He stopped over within the same day, I believe, and took measurements, and called me at work right from my back yard.
The price for the system was nearly the lowest of any others we had gotten, though we ended up not going with them because they were unwilling to do a gravity-fed system to the back of our property, as it did not have sufficient grading. The system itself seems to have a smaller channel than that of other basement waterproofing solutions, but it seemed like it would be adequate to me.

"Let me start by telling you my backstory. I live in a house built in 1929, it has a stone foundation. It wasn't until Hurricane Sandy that I felt the effects of a house that had no waterproofing and we had about three feet of water. We did a little bit of mitigation, and had no more problems for awhile. More recently, NY had five days of non stop rain and the walls in basement and flooring barely held it together. So that's when I knew I really had to do something. Every time we heard the weather report we would keep checking that basement and our little water pump. They were all professional, but there was something about the detailed 2 hour interview that Scott Cort, one of their top inspectors did with us and we knew that was the place we were going to deal with. Plus he dealt with a multitude of questions from my husband and didn't flinch. He was patient, showed us exactly what they would do to protect the basement from flooding. He saw how stressed I was and just plain tired of this. It was a very comprehensive plan. Scott explained the lifetime warranty. The system is self-cleaning and requires zero maintenance. There is also a clog free guarantee. It included a PITBOSS waterpump with a wifi system and a backup battery in case the power goes out. He also told me that there would be very little dust. And there was very little dust. It only took two full days of his crew working nonstop. I was a bit nervous about cutting the walls, but he picked up the phone every time I called. If he was busy, he texted me right away and got back to me in 30 minutes. (And I call a lot). I am happy with the results. My contractor checked it out and said American Dry did a great job after dropping by to see the results. And most of all, we can sleep when it rains. We are ready!!!
