"Service was performed, tried to sell me a new garage door. Did sell me a garage door opener for $50 which is $15 over normal cost, but saved me a trip to Home Depot."

"One of the springs on my 2 car garage door broke last night around 8:30. With my car locked in the garage I had a sense of urgency to have this repair made so I consulted with Angie's List to find a trustworthy contractor to perform the repair. I submitted a request for a quote and Pacific Experts contacted me via the Angie's List messenger within minutes. We scheduled an appointment for 8-10am this morning and Eli called when he was an estimated 20 minutes out and he arrived a little before 9:00am. The required repair was obvious since the spring was broken. I have both springs on my large door replaced and he was done in 30 minutes. Thank you Pacific Experts for being able to make it out first thing this morning and for being fairly priced."

"Very pleased with the service. My garage door stopped operating, would not go up or down but I could hear the motor trying to work. The technician diagnosed the problem immediately, and repaired it quickly. He was very pleasant and helpful and I thought the price reasonable for the service. I would definately use them again."

"Roberto installed a new garage door opener. He called beforehand, arrived on time, diagnosed a bad motor, discussed options, installed a new unit, and explained how to use it. He also hauled away old unit. All went well. New opener is super quiet, and remotes are easy to use. Hassle-free experience!"

"The job went very well. I couldn't believe how quick A.D.S. Garage Doors responded. I'll admit I was a little freaked about the garage door coming down with such force. It stopped half way down and bent in the middle. The door was beyond repair. Shane was quick, professional and courteous."

"I had an emergency. The garage door bracket by the tension bar had broke free and the door would not open. I called Foothills Garage Door and within thirty minutes on a Saturday afternoon he was at my house and working. He took one look, figured out what was needed and went to work. The gentleman who did the work was very friendly, knowledgeable and I would highly recommend him to anybody.

"As previously stated, the appointment was made the very next day. The work done was explained and done in a very timely manner. The gentleman was very polite and explained everything that was done. Before starting the work, he did explain that there could be one other thing wrong that would make the quoted amount higher. It turned out that it was just the two springs and it was nice to know that he did not create a problem that was not there. We appreciated the fast, efficient and honest work. As I said, I would recommend GDR Garage Door Repair to family, friends, and coworkers without hesitation. Thank you Angies's List and GDR Garage Door Repair.

"Josh, the serviceman from A1 Garage Door, was on time, did a complete inspection of both garage doors, found the problem, serviced completely both doors and within a few hours . He explained everything he did, and reprogrammed our garage openers. We were very happy with this entire process."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
