"The other company installed my door when my house was built in the spring of 2016 and it has been a nightmare since day 1. I had the other company come out 6-7 times and i was told its just the brand of door and it was normal but I knew it was not normal to make that much noise. I called Thunder Mountain they came out the next day, the door guy was so polite and they adjusted the rails, springs and lubed the door and now its so quiet and smooth. I tell everyone I can about these guys."

"Jon did an excellent job with revitalizing the pine floors in our cabin. The floors had a dark stain and several scratch marks from heavy furniture- the floors look brand new now. Jon was able to retain the character of the wood. He took the time to pound down nails in the floor to ensure a great finish. The cabin looks incredible - so bright and cheery now - just amazing what the refinish of floors can do for the entire home. We are simply thrilled with the craftsmanship and service. HIGHLY recommend! Pauline"

"Concrete technician is very kind and warm. He provided amazing quality work and made sure that I was happy with the outcome before completing. He’s extremely knowledgeable in his craft and produces literal art. I’m so amazed with how my driveway came out. It’s the best looking driveway in the subdivision and adds a unique touch to my house. I would definitely recommend him to other people. If you want quality this is your go to guy for sure."

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.
Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.
A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.
Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.
A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.
Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.
If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
