"Our garage door would not open and I was trying to lift it enough to be sure that the sensors weren't blocked when Ernest from Daniel's Doors saw me as he drove past. He stopped and came back to see if he could help. We were able to determine that a spring had broken. He came back later that afternoon with a crew member and installed temporary springs so I could use the garage. I asked him to send me a quote for replacing the door with one that had windows, since the garage had no wall windows and was very dark. The price was very fair and they were able to install the new door within a week. What a difference it makes, both inside and out! I'll always be grateful he happened to be in the neighborhood that day. And I know who I will always contact if I need a new garage door."

"Pros: Khoa was friendly and on-time during the project. The job site was kept clean. Great work on the plumbing and window installations. He also did a fantastic job on the mud-tape in several areas of the house. The pocket door in our bathroom was also a nice addition. Cons: We were a little disappointed with the outcome of the bathroom tile. The grout lines were too wide and the shower niche does not have that "finished bull-nose" look. Also, we had to get the shower door removed and installed by another contractor, as it wasn't installed properly. It was causing water to leak out onto the floor while showering. Granted the tub was a 60's style iron cast tub, with a slope, the sliding shower door required some special installation in order to make it level. There were a couple of miscommunication problems throughout the project. We also had a new door installed at the back of the house, but I had requested to keep the existing storm door. After the new door was installed, the storm door no longer fit. This was not remedied. Verdict: We had hired Khoa initially because of the fantastic reviews. Unfortunately, it fell a little short for us. I would think he is still a good contractor, as he did seem knowledgeable in his trade. We just expected a better job on the tile."

FAQs for garage and garage door service projects in Everett, WA

Enclosing a carport essentially turns it into a garage. You’ll start by framing and finishing exterior walls, then add a garage door (averaging $1,200), windows, and wiring for lights or outlets.

Plan for site prep and, if needed, a thicker slab to handle the added weight. Once the walls are up, insulation, drywall, and exterior siding create a secure, weather-tight space that protects vehicles and gear year-round.

A well-built carport may not add a huge dollar figure to an appraisal, but it can boost buyer appeal. Covered parking protects vehicles and lawn equipment, sharpens curb appeal, and fills what might otherwise be an empty driveway space. If the carport matches your home’s style and stays in good repair, it can make the property more attractive and competitive when you decide to sell.

Most cities and counties require a building permit for a new carport. Fees range from $60 to $800, depending on local codes and the size of the structure. Getting the permit upfront ensures the carport meets zoning rules and HOA guidelines, protecting you from fines or expensive retrofits later. Check with your building department—or ask your contractor—before ordering materials or scheduling installation.

A poured concrete slab is the gold standard for carport foundations. Concrete delivers superior load-bearing strength, keeps posts level, and resists shifting in freeze-thaw conditions. While gravel, dirt, or permeable pavers cost less upfront, they can’t match concrete’s long-term stability, especially if you might convert the carport into a garage later. Investing in a slab now can save money and hassle down the road.

Pre-made kits start at $300 and bundle all the required parts—sometimes installation, too—making them the most budget-friendly option. Custom carports cost more ($12 to $40 per square foot plus labor) but let you match the design, size, and finishes to your home.

If price and quick setup top your list, go with a kit. If you have a tricky layout or want a seamless aesthetic, investing in a custom build is worth the premium.
