"You wont find a better HVAC guy anywhere. He is knowledgeable, understanding, and makes sure his customers get what they want and need. I appreciate that he takes the time to give people options. He installed a heat pump for my mother and was kind enough to make sure she knew how to operate it. He even taught her how to take care of the filters, and offered to schedule a maintenance to make sure it stayed in good working order. This is a company that will show up on a weekend or after hours on a no heat call to take care of his customers. Alex is amazing."

"I had them come out to do a 'tune up' and annual inspection. They found out why my bill was so high. The company who installed my all electric heat pump system (2023) programmed the thermostat (the contractor part, not the setting the user has access to) incorrectly. Hart changed it to what it should be. By my estimation I have likely overpaid on excess of $3,000 since I moved in to this new construction home. I highly recommended having them out to verify if your system needs help. If your electric bill is over $200 a month you should call them immediately. I wish I had called them in 2023. Can't recommend them enough. Also, Dan was on time, professional, tidy, and communicated well."

"Two men from Energy Star installed the new electric furnace and heat pump in two days. Removing the old system and installing the new one was a lot of work done well. They were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. The new system works well. Billing was done efficiently including a rebate from Puget Sound Energy."

"The Technician came to do maintenance on both our furnace and heat pump. He was thorough and knowledgeable and explained everything and took several pictures. His name was Virgil and he was very detailed and cleaned up afterwards. He is the best technician we've had to do our system. We would definitely recommend him and his company. In fact, we would like him to come back to do our next service. I really can't say enough about Virgil and his company, Black Hills, Inc. They are the BEST! Thank you, Paul and Kristine Thompson"

"THESE ARE THE FOLKS TO HIRE! When I contacted Ares Comfort Systems, Shawn came out right away. We talked about what I wanted and what my budget was. We have solar and I wanted to switch from natural gas heating to an electric heat pump with a gas furnace to back it up in case of an extreme and prolonged cold winter storm. Chris offered four different options for me from a top of the line electric heat pump and blower, to a simple natural gas replacement furnace (mine had just died after 25 years). I also got four different estimates from other venders including one from a friend who does this in retirement. Ares was by far and away the best price for all four different options. In fact my friend who also made a bid strongly suggested I go with Ares, and I did saving me about $3000 or about 25% (it is true!) under the other venders. Chris, Kirt, and their crew came out and performed the install in a single day. The install was not simple but they did a fantastic job with a clean install. The equipment was not the highest priced (the Cadillac of heat pumps) but it was a close second and will likely outlive me while saving me money and helping the environment at the same time. Ares gave me a bid and assured me if there were any surprises they would cover the extra cost. Who does that anymore?!? If ever I need heating or cooling equipment or work, I will absolutely go with Ares Comfort Systems. I will recommend them to friends and family alike. Do yourself a favor and call them for your heating or AC needs."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Centralia, WA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
