"One of the coldest days of the year, and our furnace breaks down. So we called Pronto - they had a furnace in stock and could install it the next day! A team arrived - all polite, efficient, helpful at every stage. They made it look easy, and less than four hours they were done, the furnace working like a charm, and not a trace of the crew's hard work left behind except for our toasty house."

"A great experience from a terrific team. After we were told by our (now past) HVAC company that we needed a new furnace, I called Design by Comfort for a second opinion. When I called their office, the woman I spoke to understood my situation immediately and had their team on my doorstep at 8:00 the next morning, on the dot as scheduled. Their service specialist took apart the furnace inspected it and showed me by video the heat exchanger that our original contractor told me was bad.
Based on his very thorough examination, we knew that the furnace did not need replacement.
Obviously, the first company did not tell us the truth about the condition of our furnace so as to sell us a new one even though it was not needed.
The Design by Comfort team was honest, professional, and highly responsive. They saved me thousands of dollars. When the time comes, and it always does, for us to get a new furnace, they will certainly get our business.

"Even though I have read some negative comments about their plumbing's prices, I wanted to give them a chance as I had a fairly good experience on the HVAC side. Unfortunately, I am afraid the comments were right! I called them for a leak in my basement related to a water drain from the second floor bathrooms. Before starting, Matt explain to me he had to go through a "pluming diagnostics" of the entire house and systems that is a flat fee of $497 (based on the age of the house) for: Unlimited Time to find the problem, One level 1 to 2 repair included with diagnostic, performance check, whole home water quality analysis, including chlorine, water hardness, and total dissolved solids, confirmation that system is safe, reliable, and energy efficient, Applies to equipment 6-20+ years old, main drain, water pressure/water temperature over 1500 sqft, tankless water heater. Basically a fee to "find the leak" and anything else that could be wrong in my house in order to give me suggestions for additional repairs that go on top of the "diagnostic fee", unless it is a level 1 or 2 repair that you probably never have anyway...! I my case Matt's listed 3 options: - $4.193 (repair copper drain, new washing machine hoses, install pressure valve and new 50 Gal water heater) - $1.467 (repair copper drain, new washing machine hoses, install pressure valve). Meaning $2.726 for the water heater alone. Or $631 (repair copper drain, new washing machine hoses). Meaning $836 for the pressure valve alone! I told him I could do the machine hoses myself and asked him how much it would be just to fix the leak => $364. That means the charge to change 2 $10 hoses is $267!! By the way, they don't deduct the $79 service call if you are not part of the Membership Program, charge an additional $14 for "Transfer Fuel Surcharge" and didn't discount the $50 coupon. Bottom line my invoice was $497 + $79 + $14 + $364 = $954. Fortunately, I talked to Kristy from Customer Service the following day and got the $50 coupon applied and got an additional $50 off after my open and direct discussion with her. Thank you Kristy. Still, I believe the all process was a bit complicated for a leak and would have to try a different plumber next time. Further more, what's going on with the "Plumbing Diagnostic" fee if they have to come again later on during the year for another issue? I surely wouldn't need another "check" of my entire house..."

"Went great!! I loved that he could come out as soon as I needed and the earliest available appointment.  He was prompt, professional and got right to work assessing my sump pump and drainage around the house etc.  He also took the time to lay out my options for a battery backup and work to potentially re-route my drain pipe to the other side of the house and bury it to feed out to the forest vs right next to the house.  I felt way more informed that I had previously been.  He was able to complete the work quickly, efficiently, cleanly well under an hour.  Also, while he was there I asked if he could take a look at my furnace, I could not figure out how to replace the filter and he was able to show me right away.  I greatly appreciated this because I was really perplexed by this matter!!!   I found out My Service Pro does a variety of work and repair and I was happy to keep his information for future use.  I would definitely use My Service Pro again and recommend this company to my neighbors and friends.

"We had many issues with our computer - primarily with the CD/DVD drive and iTunes. Jim eliminated over 700 viruses from our computer, which was just the beginning. There continued to be problems within the systems of the computer. Luckily Jim charges by the job and not by the hour because he worked a LONG time to make it all work.  He kept in touch with me and addressed each issue as it arose until the job was done.  He was professional and courteous and hung in there until I was satisfied he had addressed everything. I would highly recommend Jim and will definitely use his services in the future, as needed.

"My wife, and I, were dismayed when we believed we had a leak somewhere in the shower of a bathroom remodel. That the remodel was only two years old prompted our dismay. However, I called Grout Doctors to the rescue, and Al showed up as scheduled, but when I thought I was going to receive an estimate for a $200-$300 repair, I instead received a schooling on the shower system that had been installed in our remodel. Al said (though we had noted a crack in the grout line of the shower floor) the shower - a newer technology called the "Schluter Shower System" - was essentially leak proof, and if we wished we could have the crack in the grout filled in for cosmetic purposes, other than that the shower was fine. I very much appreciated the learned lesson but felt sheepish for having this man, who was very professional and cordial, make this extra stop at the end of his busy day. All in all, we were very pleased with their response, and they will be our first call when we next "really" do need HELP!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Frontenac, MN

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
