"We needed an central air conditioner in old town Key West. Our current wall units were very noisy and inefficient. I received multiple quotes from different contractors for the same Mitsubishi mini split system. American Cooling was the lowest price and we proceeded with the install. The installers were extremely professional keeping the mess to a minimum and ensuring that it was cleaned up after each days work. The install was completed in a day and a half and once complete they made sure we understood how the system operates. We had a minor issue with one of the wall thermostats and they came by the following day to resolve it. I also received a call from Dan just to ensure that I was happy with the work that was performed. Mel, in the office, is funny and a pleasure to talk to. I highly recommend speaking to them for your AC needs."

"A year ago they responded to an SOS related to a full A/C failure. They were prompt and professional. It took several days, in the heat of the summer, till they were able to fix it, but they had to get a part from the west coast so we sweated through the ordeal. While they were working on replacing the main board, I also engaged them to clean the system. I thought the charge was high ($1000), but needed it done. A year later, one of the A/C mini-split heads stopped working. They came the next day. I paid $200 for them to trouble shoot it, which took approximately 20 minutes. (Subsequently another A/C service charged me only $95 to trouble shoot!) They said they would order the part and get back to me. After I week, I had not heard from them. When I called they said they could get the part but it would take 4-6 weeks. I said okay. What could I say. I left it in their trustworthy hands. After 6 weeks I heard nothing from them. I called. I left 4 messages, which were all unreturned. On the 5th try, someone answered. He said he couldn't get the part. Would have been nice to know that 5 weeks ago. Still puzzled why they didn't communicate with me and thus the low review. I have to say that I thought they were really nice people, but obviously my business wasn't that important to them. So be it. But a little courtesy and honesty would go a long way when servicing a small community like Key West. Because of the later incident, I wanted to give them an F, but that wouldn't be fair. If you're lucky, have deep pockets, and the problem isn't complicated, they are okay. Just be aware. I thought I had actually found a reliable service, but that wasn't the case."

"I had debated installing a new system for months. I shopped around; looked at reviews; and decided to go with Major League Contracting Services! The owner, Laz, came from Miami to my home in West Delray to give me an estimate. He said my current unit was too small, and that after 12 years it was time to replace it. We agreed on a price, and set an installation day. They came up on a Saturday and installed my new "York 3.5 ton unit." The air handler is in my attic so it was a tad tricky. After a couple of hours the unit was installed! The installers were very quick, informative, knowledgeable, and polite. Laz even came up and explained the work and even offered to file my registration with York. If you want to work with a local company that goes above and beyond to provide excellent service as well as a competitive then Major League Contracting is the company to use. Call Laz today at 786-344-1846."

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

"The salesman was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He spent hours with us thoroughly examining the home (and the ducts up in the hot attic) and then reviewed our options with us. He made sure to always discuss the cost/benefit of each decision and helped us to make an educated decision on our system. We were very happy overall and would highly recommend them to anyone. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and with Ellington I know that I am getting the very best product and service for the money."

"They installed a dual-zone Mitsubishi mini split system in my home, did a wonderful job! Best purchase I've made, I love my mini splits. They are quiet and cool the house in a short time, they look great and were installed professionally with required permits. Highly recommend this contractor for all AC installations and services. They've serviced and cleaned them as well, came with a 12 year parts warranty. I will not let anyone else work on my AC!"

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
