"THESE ARE THE FOLKS TO HIRE! When I contacted Ares Comfort Systems, Shawn came out right away. We talked about what I wanted and what my budget was. We have solar and I wanted to switch from natural gas heating to an electric heat pump with a gas furnace to back it up in case of an extreme and prolonged cold winter storm. Chris offered four different options for me from a top of the line electric heat pump and blower, to a simple natural gas replacement furnace (mine had just died after 25 years). I also got four different estimates from other venders including one from a friend who does this in retirement. Ares was by far and away the best price for all four different options. In fact my friend who also made a bid strongly suggested I go with Ares, and I did saving me about $3000 or about 25% (it is true!) under the other venders. Chris, Kirt, and their crew came out and performed the install in a single day. The install was not simple but they did a fantastic job with a clean install. The equipment was not the highest priced (the Cadillac of heat pumps) but it was a close second and will likely outlive me while saving me money and helping the environment at the same time. Ares gave me a bid and assured me if there were any surprises they would cover the extra cost. Who does that anymore?!? If ever I need heating or cooling equipment or work, I will absolutely go with Ares Comfort Systems. I will recommend them to friends and family alike. Do yourself a favor and call them for your heating or AC needs."

"Company was called because the error codes on the system indicated that the pressure switch was in a stuck open position.  Prior to calling, I replaced the pressure switch but still got the same error codes.  The technician checked out the entire system, cleaned the vacuum lines, and finally got the system working.  Problem appears to be intermittent and non-reproducible.  Technician went back to shop, talked to other technicians to get their opinions and returned the next day.  At that time, he stated that he had run all of the tests that any of them knew of and there was nothing else he could do other than start changing out parts that would cost a lot more and might not solve the problem.  On the day of his return, he also changed out the condensation pump that was failing.  I feel that I got the best service possible for the price and appreciated his not trying to get more money from me by changing additional parts.

"Very professional, sold us what we needed at a fair price. Revealed the ideas of obtaining too big of a system just to get reabates and that the rebates were no longer available due to changes in the minimum ratings. Also, salesman explained that the supplier could place a liens on our home and then explained Sears took that liabilty. We had no idea that liens could be placed on our home if the contractor did not pay his supplier!"

"They worked with us to accomplish what we were looking for. We have 1 ac unit but we wanted 1 thermostat upstairs and 1 down. Then we wanted to split up and down ducting with a valve switch so if upstairs thermostat turned on the valowouls close off down stairs and just cool up. And vise versa. They made it happen and we now have a much more efficient ac system."

"Rubin came out to look at the job and discussed an additional job I was considering. He did not send the estimate for the second job, but then did communicate the information to me when he came out to do the first job. Rubin was very professional, personable and a clear communicator. I had purchased and Angie Big Deal of three hours for $99 dollars expecting the job would require an additional 1-2 hours. His estimate and final price came out about what I expected. His work was very good. I will have him back to do the second job of refinishing the walls in the bathroom."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Long Beach, WA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
