"I'm a member of the excellent Allred subscription service that provides for consistent maintenance checkups for all installed equipment. I scheduled a tune for my heat pump, Allred was thorough and quick in setting the appointment, and communication of status and pending arrival time was on point. Raphael arrived, walked me through the maintenance steps he planned to take and the sequencing of the job, gave me an anticipated time to complete, and was at work immediately. All stated deliverables were met, and he provided a thorough after service report complete with pictures to show the work that was done and the recommended additional maintenance that would be wise to do to extend the life of our equipment. He was courteous, pleasant, clean and well-spoken, and I felt completely comfortable with him working in our home. I will continue to recommend Allred to my friends seeking HVAC services, and have sent several folks their way already. Very happy customer, exceptionally positive experience."

"The Good: our furnace failed. They showed up that day and fixed it that day. Not So Good: I gave them the make, model, and serial number of the furnace, and the error code coming off the system board that pointed to a specific part. They showed up without that part. To be fair, they were already in the field so they get a free pass on that. Troubleshooting was brief and the part was right on the front of the furnace. Couple screws and a few wire disconnects so the actual replacement time was minutes. The part costs about $50. The total bill was $621. I paid for a journeyman and an apprentice who did not do anything so he did not learn and I got dinged a bit much in the pricing. The bill had zero detail. Just the part and the price."

"Blue Flame was very quick to respond and I had my new furnace the next day. I will never know for sure if a replacement part would have fixed the problem, or if I really needed a new furnace. I had to take their word for it. It was wintertime and cold. I definitely needed heat and didn't have time to search around for bids."

Small jobs welcome

"First Class job!! Very pleased with Ryan Post and crew for the outstanding work they didnat our home. Our project involved relocating a badly placed floor heating vent on a hardwood oak plank floor. Involved ingenious rerouting of ductwork. Great engineering!! Ryan also installed under our crawlspace floor badly needed insulation. Outstanding workmanship!! Utilizes a "twinning" method ensuring insulation bats remain snug and secure between floor joists. Can't say enough good about him and his crew for a job well done. Very personable, very professional, very clean. Work site left spic and span. Highly recommend Ryan for furnace/air conditioning ductwork as well as insulation work. He knows his business! Many thanks, Ryan! Erik Anderson Federal Way"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Maple Valley, WA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
