"I’ve used Holtzople in the past, and it’s been 16 years since they’ve come out to look at my Trane heat pump. They hire good human beings. Corey W. Was out most recent tech, with a total of 12 years experience. Quality employee, great HVAC knowledge, and has the ability to explain a complex system to his audience. Holtzople continues to impress with the caliber of the employees they hold."

"The service from Bamford Plumbing & Heating Inc. went great.  He kept his scheduled appointments and had no need to come back because he did everything 100% the first time through.  He is a general plumber, but his knowledge of boilers was exceptional, I learned a lot."

"The guys from Tim Kyle are true pros pros. I used them previously for electrical work and now again to replace a failing gas furnace. They went out of their way to schedule the work on a Saturday which I greatly appreciated. Completed installation was top notch. I highly recommend this company. "Markool was super professional, kind, and skillful. A few things really stood out. 1) He did a furnace flue piper install that he could have charged us much more for if he had wanted to take advantage of us - but he was honest and we paid less than we feared. He also went the extra mile helping my wife and I through a warranty claim with the furnace company so that we did not have to pay extra part costs. It was an unexpected need, but he was prepared with the part and worked with the manufacturer to get us covered. He was even able to better a previous repair. 2) On a home humidifier install, he made himself available on short notice, took time to answer our questions, and then showed us how to maintain the equipment ourselves so we wouldn't need to shelve out more for additional contracting work - even from him. Grateful!"

"The technician was great. He explained what he was doing as he went along even though it was freezing outside. Checked my entire heating system to find the problem and replaced only the parts that were broken. Got my system back up and running in a little under two hours and was very pleasant and understanding when we asked him many questions and answered everyone so that we understood him. Thank you so much for your professional manner and courteousness. Got my hearing system to stop running in emergency mode and back to normal heat. Thanks"

"We decided to replace our 16 year old AC and furnace as we wanted to prevent possible problems with our HVAC system. The heating consultant that they sent, Alex H, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He provided us with estimates for a number of options - similar to those from other HVAC companies that quoted for this work. A day later I received a call from Blue Dot offering a discount on that quote and we accepted that quote. Alex made the one and a half hour drive to visit with us again, to walk us through the contract details, and to explain install process. This was a really nice touch as usually contracts are signed electronically these days. The Blue Dot install team came on time on the scheduled day and did a neat and professional job with the install - performing all the necessary checks and tests, and left the work area clean and tidy - and with the HVAC systems working well. The whole purchase and install process couldn't have gone smoother. We are very happy with BlueDot and will certainly use them again preferentially for our HVAC needs."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in New Windsor, MD

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
