"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"Exceeded all expectations. Dennis and his helper were amazing. Kept us informed when special order parts would arrive. Absolutely one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor.. In a Five Star ranking system I would give Preferred Oil & Propane Service at least 7 Stars."

"Experience delivered in a very customer-friendly manner. They â mergedâ into our household with ease and completed their work well. Our heating is now better than before as they modified the equipment to our current distribution system and made custom upgrades that make a big difference. They left the worksite clean and organized."

"Cheapest of four estimates and surprisingly the best warranty of the four. As an aside, take time to understand the warranty and ask about specific scenarios to understand what is really covered with a roof warranty. One other company was very close on price, but had an inferior warranty just covering the shingles. T
Everyone was very professional from sales to the actual workers. Over the course of five days, replaced a fairly large roof. Stayed on schedule, and performed daily cleanups. I did find a few nails after the project ended, i.e. stuck between wooden beams on our deck, but nothing eggregious, and also found some tar paper stuck in a tree that was likely not visible from the ground. Very happy with quality of final product thus far.
This kind of work was clearly very routine for them and they had an impressive system to efficiently get the work done. Only complaint is we had a few picture frames fall and break from the impact of the roofing work. Would have appreciated a heads up to secure loose items in the house as we did not expect the impact of the work to dislodge anything. Filled out warranty paperwork.

"After shopping around I selected BKR Plumbing and Heating because their prices were fair and they made time in their schedule to get my job done. My hot water tank was leaking and I did not want to wait until my basement was flooded. They came right on time with the proper parts and tools to do the job. Their work was neat and quick. I am very happy the the job they did."

"Called warranty repair, found out that it was done by a local provider (Flori Heating and Air). I called Flori to schedule an appointment, they were here on time and got things back up, running and cooling. Since it was 95 outside, I appreciated their sense of urgency and calm professionalism, not to mention the quick return of cold air coming out of my vents!"

"Josh and his crew did a great job enclosing my porch. He was able to match both the exterior and interior with my existing cabin so it looks beautiful. He insulated it very well so it stays warm and toasty with just an electric heater. Very happy with his workmanship!"

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
