"I have a mixed review. There was an initial site survey done by Ron M. He gave me estimates of $48k, 23k and 13k. I almost walked away from my new Electric vehicle. I had to suggest the option I went with, to replace my electric range with a gas line run to install a gas range in my kitchen. I did so at a cost of $890 for the range and $1508 for the gas line. Before we settled on this bid, I asked about the former hot tub that was behind my garage. Ron didn?t listen to my input and said it was probably 110v and I asked since my house was bought by me from my Mom when my grandma died. I knew that it was heated and had a 220 circuit. Ron was not the installer on the day of the install, the two gentlemen that did the install did GREAT WORK! 100%! When they were done, the older electrician told me that there was good news, after me spending $2400 for a new gas stove and a gas line, that they used the hot tub line to install my EV charger Ron didn?t listen to a word I said cost me more$"

"I was having a problem with MS Office not responding and other files being very, very slow to open. Jim started looking for the cause right away. He did numerous checks for viruses, malware, and various other things that can go wrong. He vigorously pursued a resolution pretty steadily for two days before determining it was a malfunctioning external backup system that was causing the problem. With that finding, he promptly got my computer running smoothly and very fast again. He made two trips to my house; on the first one, he had to cross a sheet of ice in my driveway. Jim is a very capable and experienced computer analyst that will get after your problem because he fully understands the importance of, and the need to have a working computer in the house.

"Carlos came to my home from a service call that he answered from a home warranty company, my home is not in his "normal" service area, but he took the call and job anyway. He showed up and did the inspection as requested from this warranty company, and gave his expert opinion to them. The home warranty company wanted us to get a second opinion and also was not honest about the situation of why they wanted it and was also not honest in what Mr. Carlos reported back to them. Due to Mr. Carlos's honesty, integrity, and work ethic our family chose to ignore this warranty company and pay full price out of our pocket to have Mr. Carlos/VMAX complete the removal and installation of a new central air unit and also a new furnace. I have never met someone in the service industry that is as passionate and motivated to do the right job, the right way. Mr. Carlos is as stand up of a person and professional as I have ever met. I can not recommend Mr. Carlos and VMAX enough."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Tracy, IA

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
