"After a thorough review of our system by another company, I received an estimate from them to replace two bad capacitors and a contactor in our heat pump. The total was over $700, so I declined the repair service. I looked up the pricing on the parts and bought two of them for less than $50. I then called Mike's Heating and Cooling and spoke with Josh who gave me a price of $50 for the third part I needed and $85 to install all three. Less than 48 hours later, the technician DJ had them installed and our system is now working great. In the end I spent less than $200 for everything, which was significantly less expensive than going with the original Aire Serve bid. I am very happy with Mike's Heating and Cooling and plan to use them in the future."

"THE GOOD: The technician with Aire Serve did a wonderful job. He was very professional and very thorough in his review. He found three parts that were bad and needed to be replaced because they were not functioning fully. He cleaned up the unit and it runs more quietly now. I am quite happy about his inspection and tune up of our system. THE BAD: The total repair estimate for those three parts, two of which were already pulled out, was over $700 with tax (two capacitors and a contactor). I declined the repair and he put the old parts back in (he was a really nice guy and I hated to do that to him). I contacted a local parts store and was able to get the parts for less than $75. Seeing that two out of three parts were already pulled from the system, Aire Serve was charging over $600 in labor for a job that would have only taken an extra 10-20 minutes of his time. I would have been more than happy to give them the job if they had been reasonable. Unfortunately, I now have to find someone who is reasonably priced to put the new parts in."

"We had a bad experience with a company whose heating and air guy told us that we needed either a $3000 repair, a better $5000 repair, or a new system for $7800! Everything seemed to be working fine. I just had a gut feeling that he was being dishonest, so I decided to get another opinion. I found Doug Peery with Mills River Mechanical online and chose him because of the excellent reviews. He is AMAZING! He found absolutely nothing wrong with our heat and air system and even cleaned the coil on the outdoor air unit. He was great with calling and texting, came at a convenient time for us, put our furnace back together- the other guy had left it apart with screws on the floor- and was friendly and honest.
