"Speer Air just completed a complete overhaul of my existing HVAC including an upgrade of part of our system. The entire experience from initial sales visit to completion was great. Throughout the installation, the team was friendly, always available to answer a question, clean and respectful of my 3 young children (making sure nothing was left behind or any debris that could hurt them). System is operational and very satisfied. Highly recommend them."

"During the quote period Mario was knowledgeable and provided a quote with options for rebates based on the high efficiency units selected. The Mitsubishi Ductless system have been working great for cooling and Iâ m sure the same will be for the winter with heating. Fallon and Mario, along with their team did a phenomenal job as quickly as possible. As they performed their tasks, the team was courteous, clean and provided communication updates along the way. It was a smooth experience."

"It was a superb experience. From the visit by Bruce the sales representative to the installation day to the follow-up from Petro, every single person we interacted with was helpful and professional. When Bruce arrived to do the assessment, we spent time going over the heating needs in the house. After a thorough inspection and measurement of the house, we sat down. He showed me a few options, all of which were going to provide good service. I ordered a unit at the end of that meeting. The installation day was just terrific- the entire work crew that showed up were everything I would hope to find: Upbeat, informative, hard-working, focused. The job was finished before end of day as promised. The heater room is now immaculate, with new piping and a new heater. It was like watching a pit crew at a NASCAR race. Everyone had their tasks, they moved carefully but quickly. The materials were all laid out in order, etc. Just a totally professional approach to their work. The crew boss answered any questions I had. The follow-up for a normal inspection of the furnace chimney was scheduled the day after the installation. I’ve gotten calls to insure we are satisfied with the work. Satisfied barely covers it- I am pleased to write this kind of review. Without hesitation I will recommend Petro to friends and family throughout the Philly area. Peter A. Elkins Park"

"Kyle provided furnace tune-ups for our home. He was very professional and did an excellent job communicating what he was checking. He suggested improvements we could make to our system, but never felt pushy or like he was hard upselling. I really appreciated his approach, and it made me more comfortable as a new home owner."

"Eric & Dante went above & beyond to make our heater work during this brutal single digit weather. Diagnosing the issues is one after the another but they were able to make it happen. Their company is really prompt, very professional and very fair pricing. Eric is even available after business hours to answer technical issues. You will rarely get this type of pros."

"I have had a nightmare the last 6 months with another HVAC vendor who couldn't figure out how to get my separate air and heat systems working together with my smart thermostat. From blown fuses to blown compressors to blown thermostats, the prior guys were a train wreck who didn't even understand the setup *their own people* installed, and I was beginning to think it was an issue with my house setup because that's what they were telling me (plus they continually bash smart thermostats because they're dinosaurs and don't want to figure them out). Well, enter Greg, who spent 3+ hours methodically and patiently understanding my setup and systems, and I now have everything working, plus a humidifier to boot. For the time spent, I also paid a fraction of what the other guy would have charged me, and Greg now has my business for all things HVAC moving forward. I highly recommend him, and he even takes the time to answer any questions without that annoyed tone other guys will give, as if I couldn't *possibly* understand their trade. Really appreciate HomeAdvisor's recommendation of Greg!"

"MDL Electric was a great Angie's List find! My tenant's washer stopped working in the middle of a load. I also needed to have 2 breakers and 6 GFI outlets replaced. Spoke to Miguel at 1:30 this afternoon. He was able to get a technician over there in about 30 minutes. He explained all that needed to be done and, less than 3 hours later, the work was finished and everything was left neat and clean! Very prompt and professional. Now THAT’s customer service! I wouldn't hesitate to use MDL Electric again or to recommend them to friends in the future. Thank you, Miguel!"

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.
Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.
With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.
The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.
Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.
An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.
An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
