"Estimate > The wooden screen doors on our screened porch needed replacement. I called and requested a quote. The sales rep came out. He was on time, friendly and professional. He took photos, and we discussed options. He recommended that we replace the current doors with higher quality doors, making the project more expensive than I had planned, but with the goal that they would last much longer. I received a detailed estimate by email the next business day. The estimate seemed to be fixed price, and there was no mention of possible overages. About half the cost was the materials (doors, closures) and the other half was labor (install, haul away). Scheduling > A few weeks later I scheduled the work. We went back and forth by email a few times to find a date and time that worked. (A couple times they emailed and by the time I responded the spot was gone, so we had to try again. Understandable, but I'd recommend picking up the phone to reduce back and forth.) We ended up with a 3-5 pm timeframe. Work > The day of the scheduled work, I received a call at about 4 that the workman was running late but would be there soon. I expressed concern that it would be dark out, and it was an outdoor project. I got another call at 4:30 that he wouldn't be able to pick up the materials and get there in time. I worked with the office to schedule another date and time. The rescheduled day of the work, the workmen called to let me know they could come a bit early. (I wasn't home yet, but they were there when I arrived.) They were professional and friendly. We discussed and clarified that knobs for the old doors were damaged and couldn't be used, as detailed in the estimate. They completed their work and cleaned everything up well. When it came time to pay they had added $70 for labor to install the knobs, which wasn't expected, but we paid in full and I planned to call the office the next day since it was late. The completed work looks good. The doors are sturdy and close well. Follow up > I called the next day and spoke with Luke in the office. He confirmed that their estimates are fixed price. He called me back the next day to clarify that the door closers they had brought required more time than expected to install so they added the charge. I asked him to reconsider the cost (either a refund or discount), because it wasn't mentioned in the estimate and the team didn't clarify it with us before they completed the work, or give us the option to let us do it ourselves later. They cashed my check later that week but I still hadn't heard back. I followed up by email and received a response that they would send me a $40 refund check (of the $70 unexpected). I received the refund check in the next week in the mail. To improve the experience, they could have communicated with me better and more proactively to schedule the work initially, and to reschedule the work on the original day; communicated more clearly about potential additional costs, and secured my approval for the additional costs before the work was preformed; and communicated better to follow up on my inquiry, waited to cash my check until they had confirmed their solution, and proactively notified me when they came to a solution. I am satisfied with the quality of the work."

"Our roof is in four parts and needed a small back portion replaced. I found American Home Contractors on Angies List and called for an estimate. Their estimate came in the lowest of three using the same quality cedar shake, nails, roof paper, etc. Everything was written out on the estimates. I was working with Tyler, the project manager, who kept me up to date and was responsive when I called. It took awhile to get started because there was so much Spring rain and their roofing jobs were back logged, Once we got started things appeared fine except the first day only one man showed up because his partner had called in sick. He said no problem I can handle the work today myself. I left the house and came back around 3PM and the contractor was gone. I don't know who called who but I spoke with Tyler who told me the contractor had run into a wasp's nest, got stung 18 times, and was allergic to bees. He had gotten himself to the emergency room, stayed over night in the hospital, and was going to be OK. We got Terminex out there the next day who took care of the wasps and found other nests and they are now gone. So now the man who has now recovered from his bee stings doesn't want to return to our roof which I can appreciate. So Tyler's communicating all this to me and is looking for another crew to finish the work. The roof in the mean time has been draped securely. All this was no real problem for me (stuff just happens) I was just glad the contractor had recovered and the roof was draped because, of course, we got rain and all was fine, no leaks. The new crew came out the next Saturday and completed the roof work in one day. They worked a very long day. They cleaned up everything, I was impressed and that's hard to do. I'm very particular about contractors cleaning up after themselves and they were excellent. Tyler called and came out to inspect a few days later and get payment. Up to this time I had only paid $100 toward a $4,900.00 project. A cover had fallen off an old electric outdoor outlet that the men were using. I sent Tyler a picture and he brought a new one over and replaced the old one. I've been very impressed with the whole process of dealing with American Home contractors. In particular, Tyler Griffin who made sure things ran as smoothly as possible even under the unexpected conditions. I would recommend using this company and I would use them again. In fact, I plan to get my gutters cleaned by them in about two weeks."

"All American Electric made this installation easy and affordable and the lights are perfect! Four months ago we had LED ceiling lights installed by another electrician who charged us $1,350 and they caused significant drywall damage which needed professional attention to be patched and repainted. The painting company charged an additional $400 to repaint. The total sum for the July project was $1750. In November All American Electric installed the same brand and number of LED ceiling lights plus they installed under counter lights and replaced 4 outdoor lights and their total was $300 less than the previous electrician (and Patrick did  much less damage to walls and ceiling). Patrick gives thought to the project before making a hole which saved the custom paint on my walls. He didn?t take the easy path for the installation but considered how to minimize repair after installation. Indeed I was amazed to see the tiny holes Patrick made for each of the LEDs!! We were able to repair the drywall and touch up the paint ourselves which saved us another $400. Considering installation and the repair to walls/ceiling, Patrick saved us ~$700 for installing the same lights (plus All American's price included the the under counter and outdoor lights). Patrick and Phillip arrived on time and began working immediately. They were professional, courteous and asked relevant questions about our wishes for the lights. Without any hesitation I would recommend All American Electric and plan to use them for all my electrical needs.
