"Zuck Painting was professional, communicative, punctual, and polite from start to finish in everything from getting a quote to the final touches. Even in hot and humid weather, the team showed up and worked tirelessly throughout the day. In just three days the exterior of my 1200 sqft house went from dark red to light blue and white. I highly recommend Zuck Painting!"

"This was an extremely large painting project that began in late March and finished up in Mid-June--nine-plus weeks in length. To go along with such a large project--and large expense--were a bit of nerves too. The church had been completely painted approx. 5 years ago by another contractor and the coating was already failing in a big way. Cyr Painting was highly recommended by one of the church Trustees who had Cyr Painting paint their own home one year earlier and were thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and quality. Cyr's formula to address the deteriorating paint was to completely strip off all old paint and build up a new foundation. A labor-intensive project. To reduce costs, Cyr used a spray-on paint stripper where they could to speed up paint removal. In the end, nearly all of the paint was removed, right down to bare wood. The bare clapboards were then sanded smooth with palm-sanders and the nails reset. A thinned coat of oil-based primer was applied. Next they filled any dents with an exterior wood putty and gave everything a quick sanding again. Wow, it was smooth! Then a full oil-based primer coat went on followed by two coats of a latex stain. A total of four coats of paint went on the church. At some point between coats of paint, they caulked around windows and clapboard ends. One window had some rotten wood along the window sill and vertical trim piece which they replaced and it blended right in. One of Cyr Painting's key assets is their employees. Extremely professional, polite, dedicated with a hint of being characters is a pretty good description. The two foremen or main "characters" are Ernie and Jeff. Two good loud-and-proud guys as well as the other painters on the team. And the owner, John Cyr, was super to work with. Extremely sincere and dedicated to doing the best job. Very mindful of the budget and even took steps towards the end of the project to stay close to the original estimate. With limited resources, the church greatly appreciated John Cyr's diligence in holding to the budget. As he said, his name and his company's name and reputation are on full display. All in all, we're very happy with the painting of our old and traditional New England church. Cyr Painting took the time and effort to ensure the church paint won't fail like the prior paint job. In fact, the New England paint representatives stopped by the church and said they would guarantee the paint due to all the preparations Cyr Painting had done. Do it right the first time and it will last. Highly, highly recommend Cyr Painting. One small reason why?... they even washed the windows, inside and outside before leaving. Not even the church has done that in a while. Jobsite was always clean and tidy too. Fantastic job. The church stands once again a proud and humble servant to the community and our Lord."

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
