Called couple places and went with Greenix because price was more reasonable than other places, and Kyle explained on the phone what could and could not be done in great detail and answered all my questions for an hour. We have lived in our house for 40 years and every 10 years or so, we need to get a pest control in quickly. Kyle checked with the various satellite sites of technicians and found someone to come out the very next day in the morning which seems to be unheard of these days with businesses. We went with the 1yr service because the insects we have sometimes need more than 1 trip to eradicate them, plus the visits were unlimited if we still had the same problem, but don't expect that. Scheduled visits every quarter are what we wanted as we live next to the woods and our back yard is where the woods begin, so we wanted insect protection year round."

"Resolution Pest was very good. I spoke to the owner on the phone. He told me what to expect and then the cost of a treatment plan if it was necessary. An employee came to the house on the designated day. He did not come during the allotted window of time, he came much later in the day. But, he did arrive. He assessed the house, looked at the perimeter and the deck. He did not see any evidence of carpenter ants entering the house. However as a precaution, he treated the baseboards in the basement and the main level. He also found spiders in dark damp areas of the home. He commented that spiders are indicative of other insects. Then he treated those areas for insects. He was helpful and appeared forthright. He did not encourage starting a treatment plan. But rather, did the one treatment and made his other suggestions. Overall, it went well and the treatment has been effective."

"The guy found the hole and built a trap for the squirrels to go out but not back in. He eventually got rid of the trap when we no longer heard squirrels, but he wouldn't plug the hole permanently even though we requested it (my guess, he kept open the option of this happening again so he could get more business). Modern completely eradicated an ant infestation in March 2015.  In July, Modern came to do maintenance spraying to prevent ants.  All interactions with Modern have been professional and polite.  Modern personnel answered all questions thoroughly.  They are very knowledgeable about insects and how to deal with them safely with kids and pets.  Rescheduling was needed and Modern was very flexible in accommodating my schedule.

"We had already done a termite inspection when we bought the house and we had a report of that. I mentioned that to PTC and emailed them the report but they didn't trust it and Pat (inspector/technician) wanted to come anyway to check the house and address the right treatment. He charged us 50$ for that and he was going to give us the same amount discount if he
saw going to perform the treatment. His inspection was carefully done, however another inspector located more critical points to treat them Pat. He proposed a treatment and estimated a cost on site but we had to wait for an official estimate he sent by mail. He explained to me the treatment he was going to perform and he was very clear in accounting the area that needs to be treated.
I compared PTC estimate with others I received for the treatment and PTC was one of the most cheapest.
I called them all trying to understand why there was such a big difference in price and from my very basic search and understanding I have noticed the following:
- Pat was going to perform a Repellent treatment, few feet away from the house, leaving that area untreated.
Compared to other Non-Repellent treatments we were suggested to do his treatment seems to be less durable and effective. There is always a risk of leaving some areas untreated and gaps that the termites can detect and use as their favorite way to the house.
- PTC was not able to tell me which chemical they were going to use.
Pat also spotted a hole on the side of the house and he believed it was due to a skunk (or groundhog). He was not able to take care of that an he suggested us to contact other pest control professional to take care of the matter. They wanted to charge me approx. 200$ to come and see if there was an animal there.
Even if PTC were the most convenient price wise, we decided to appoint a different company that proposed a Non-Repellent treatment we felt more appropriate and reliable. They also take care of the groundhog hole (no animal was there) with no charge because it was on the way of their treatment.
I didn't like I had to pay for PTC inspection in order to get their estimate, especially because I had already a specific termite inspection and report. No other company does that.
