They came out after hrs to check my situation and determined that the repairs could wait in the next morning. This emergency service charge was very reasonable ($50). "Highly recommend!!!!! Late on a Thursday, scheduled an appointment for 10AM Saturday (first available). An hour or so later, received an email telling me that the appointment was for a two hour window (10AM-Noon), not 10-11 as indicated on the HomeAdvisor site. To be honest, I hadn't even noticed that. I did not realize as well that Claude has a fairly large service area as is evident from his reviews. The high overall rating was good enough for me. Plumbers have to deal with what they find when they get to a job and it is not unusual for a job to become more complicated than how it was first conveyed. Claude called at 11:30 to say he was on his way and asked if I could send him a picture of the inside of the toilet as he needed to stop on the way to get the proper parts. I've found that it's common for plumbers to grab some of the parts needed for a job on the way to it. Their work trucks carry mostly tools and common parts used every day. I knew one plumber who had a work truck stolen and the cost to replace the tools and parts was as much as to replace the truck itself. Claude arrived just before 1PM with two young men in tow and several possible replacement parts (yes, technically outside the scheduled window but okay for me - traffic, construction and those who insist on driving 35 in the 55 MPH main two lane to my area will delay everyone at some point - I knew he was on his way). I've changed plenty of flappers, flush handles, and intake valves over the years but never needed to replace a flush valve before. With the big hole that it goes in between the tank and the bowl, I didn't want to chance messing up, particularly given the wood floor. One of the young men stood around handing Claude tools as needed and the other stood around watching and listening. Both were clearly there to learn the trade, not do the work. Claude explained everything in lots of detail letting me know that I had the old style 3 gallon toilets and not the new 1.2 gallon ones you get today, that I should continue replacing parts as needed and never replace the toilet itself unless absolutely necessary. He then described the problems that a lot of folks have with the "low-flow" toilets that end up using just as much water over 2-3 flushes to get everything flushed. He also went thru about 3/4 of a "Mega" size roll of paper towels wiping and cleaning the toilet and the work area constantly (yes, he took all his trash with him and left things spotless). Dirt, grime and slime is just a potential path for water to go when you get a leak. Cleaning it helps prevent problems in the future. Claude answered all my questions, both about replacing a flush valve and about plumbing in general. Claude knows his stuff and then some and has no qualms about sharing that knowledge. At the end, the cost was the same as what he quoted on arrival and was quite reasonable. With what I learned, I got a bargain. My only regret was that Claude doesn't work on wells....but he could recommend"
