"We contracted with Atlantic Deck Co. to build a large second-story deck supported by a 3-1/2 foot high concrete and stone floodproofing wall.  The deck also serves as a roof to a screened-in area enclosed by the flood wall.  After two house floods and no action by our county government to limit the size of "ponding areas" created on our property during rainstorms, we had accepted the necessity of a wall; however we were apprehensive about how liveable we could make the lower area contained by it.  Chris Mallonee at Atlantic Deck proposed an excellent design that keeps the lower area bright and attractive as well as dry and accessible from the back yard.  We had interviewed several contractors for the work and came away from that process feeling sure that Atlantic Deck had put the most thought into the project and was the most capable of handling both the masonry and carpentry parts of the job equally well. 
The actual contracting was easy.  We'd had a good idea of what we wanted, but adopted several of Chris' suggestions with respect to arrangement and finishing.  The prices were fair and what was to be delivered was made very clear.  One of the most impressive things in working with Atlantic Deck was how quickly and clearly the prices of changes could be estimated and separated.  We knew going in that we could not afford to do everything we wanted, but Chris planned the project so as to enable any adding on in the future to be done with a minimum of rework.  Additionally, once excavation began the county demanded changes in the size of the foundation (even after having approved the permit), and I give Atlantic Deck all the credit for figuring out how to keep the project going without delay or excessive cost.
The craftsmanship of the construction itself was impressive.  Mike Roberts was in charge of the concrete wall construction.  As I said, we'd been apprehensive about whether the flood wall would look more like a fortification rather than a living space.   I should not have worried.  He made it look great and it has become a very comfortable part of our house.  He made rapid progress and by the time it was partially complete we knew the rest of the project would go well.  Then Chris' crew took over to build the deck.  Armando was the lead carpenter.  He was meticulous in his attention to detail and relentless about completing the work (he even worked weekends and over Thanksgiving, which we certainly did not ask that he do).  Overall, he did a really beautiful job.
Both crews showed up like clockwork at the house, every day with a brief exception for Hurricane Sandy.  They knew exactly what needed to be done and it was gratifying to see how much progress was made day after day.  Considering the scope of the construction (we probably enlarged our living space by 1/3 the size of the house), they were able to keep the yard clean and orderly, and everyone was very pleasant.  Altogether the project was worth every penny, is built to last and looks even better than we had hoped.  My experience with Atlantic Deck Co. was great, start to finish.  I won't hesitate to use them again and recommend them to anyone for any type of home construction work.

"The process started with a VKB designer, Sean, coming to our house to look at our bathroom and provide an estimate. A few days later, we went to the VKB showroom and selected our tile with Sean's advice. Five days after that, the remodeling workers began the project. Our project lead was named Jason. VKB left a lock box on the door to our house with our key in it so that we did not have to be at home while they were working. From start to finish the project took 3 weeks. Each day when the workers arrived, they would lay down canvas on the floor from the entrance of the house all the way upstairs to the master bathroom to keep the carpet clean. They would also hang plastic covers over the furniture in our bedroom to protect them from dust. Our garage was used to store a lot of materials, equipment, and trash through the process, so we could not park our car in there. Fortunately, we had easy access to street parking. Each day, Jason would call us in the evening to make sure everything was going okay. He was always very accessible and attentive to our concerns. At the end of the project, our tile selections turned out looking great and all of the finishing details were well done. The custom glass enclosure also looked great and fit perfectly. "My wife and I have used Two By Four quite a few times so far. They installed laminate flooring replacing some of the subfloor at the time and while the subfloor was up added ceiling lights to the room below. We had them come back and add ceiling lights, fan boxes, and smoke detectors to 4 bedrooms. They have also done plumbing work in the guest bathroom and the kitchen. They installed a mail box that required a concrete pad and added stonework around it for finish. Finally they replaced some siding and attic vents that were damaged by hail. Every job has gone smoothly, they arrive when expected are friendly and clean while on the job site. We never had any cause to be upset. They have been able to do some jobs like the kitchen sink leak on very short notice. Overall very happy with Gary, Jr, and the entire crew."

The project was to repair a pair of interior pocket doors between rooms.Alex evaluated the problem quickly and then gave the unexpected when he said “I’m pretty sure that I can get those parts at Home Depot and if you would like I could run over there NOW get the parts and come back and do the job NOW”. Hard to explain how happy that made me. Alex came back and repaired the doors very quickly and did a wonderful job which I am extremely happy with the job. The icing on the cake was that Alex was a wonderful person to deal with which was great. A very professional person for which now is in my contact list for any future handyman project. "The crew arrived on time and completed the job on schedule.
The quality was excellent and the fence was better built and more stable than my old fence.
The gate they built was more stable but had a bottom frame that would make it difficult for
me to roll equipment in and out of my yard.
