"We had storm damage on our 1950's rambler--the roof/gutters/siding all needed to be replaced. This was complicated when lead was found in the paint of our redwood siding. We had several contractors come out, assess the damage and then never responded again. When Rick's came out to give us a quote, they were on time, gave us a fair, clear quote and met with our insurance adjuster to make sure the adjuster understood the complexity of the project and the potential cost. Without Rick going to bat for us with the adjuster, we could never had afforded to get our house properly fixed. Rick's replaced our entire exterior including removing/replacing the windows, soffits, facia, gutters, roof and siding. It was a major renovation on our little house and garage. "The experience from the initial quote to the actual application of stucco was very smooth.  The explanation of the process and what to expect was very clear.
There were some repairs to the existing stucco (cracks) and this work was performed quickly and was well done.  Two weeks was allowed for the repairs to cure.  We asked for an estimate of when the follow on work would occur and Bill (McClellan) was right on time with his estimate.
The crew of four showed up on a Monday and began the process with prepping which included taping windows, removing gutter downspouts, removing lights, removing  house numbers, and erecting scaffolding.  Particular attention was used in lying down drop cloths.  It was clear that great care was taken to protect the house and plantings.
The individuals on the crew had clearly worked together for a long time and they worked very well together.  Everyone had a role and they used their time efficiently.
The end product is very well done.  It is apparent that the persons actually applying the mortar were trained and skilled craftsmen who had years of experience.  Their help with color and texture was very valuable.
The crew was very good about cleaning up.  They made certain that any mortar remains were cleaned up and that the driveway was washed down.

- They were the third contractor to look at the leak I had into my house.  The other two contractors were not able to identify the problem.  Lakewoods Remodeling did.
- They identified that the leak was due to the sliding and not the roof.  However, there was a concern that removing and reattaching the 25 year old sliding would be difficult.  The siding was no longer available and I didn't want to pay for all new siding.  Lakewoods Remodeling did a detailed analysis on my situation and guaranteed that they could remove the old siding, make the repair, and reattach the old siding.

"I went with Higgins based on reputation and examples of their work in town. They did an excellent job remodeling the exterior of our modest 1950s rambler and detached garage. Our home had the original painted cedar shakes still in place and windows that were a mix of old and newer home depot specials. The gutters were leaking and the garage was looking a bit tired! Mike Higgins was my main contact. I had him come out to estimate a price for siding and windows only, but it soon became clear we were looking at a total exterior remodel. It took time to get buy in from the wife on such a time consuming and expensive project, but no one can argue with the result: neighbors referring to our property as "beautiful" and saying "it looks like [you] built a new house and new garage." Mike came out to measure the windows in January. It took time for me to decide on the siding look and color (wanted something that would not fade) and to get into the schedule. They started work in mid-April. Brought in dumpster. Tore off old siding and doors. Wrapped the house and garage. Lifted the garage and replaced the original rafters. Replaced windows and basement windows. Put on the trim, fascia, soffits and gutters. Install new lights and door buzzer. All first class, quality MN products installed by seasoned professionals. The actual siding and windows lasted about 3-4 weeks and then some follow on work after that. Communication was email, phone, text message and personal meeting, always responsive and courteous. The crew was professional and courteous to me and my family. Issues always come up in any job, but the ones that came up during this job were resolved quickly and equitably. Mike is pretty laid back about changes in scope and honest in his pricing. I would advise that if you have very specific ideas in mind for your home, clearly write them down or show Mike what you want. This may seem obvious to most, but I had no experience with a project like this and I was not prepared for all the minor decisions that go into a major project like this."

"I am giving my rep, Raul, a 5 star rating. I am about to take the plunge and have my house re-sided for the first time ever! My home is 116 yrs old and has only been painted several times over the original wood. However, paint no longer will fix what is happening underneath, with dry rot, aging, etc., so my only option is to have it re-sided & almost start from scratch. I met with Raul, who is "awesome", to say the least. He is knowledgeable, explains everything to a "T" and is so down-to-earth. My old "farm" house is 2 stories, plus a walk-up attic, so this would have cost me a fortune as there is a lot of "territory" to be covered. It still is going to cost me a fortune, but Raul covered every crook & cranny to cut my costs immensely to make it affordable. I am so grateful for his assistance. "I wish I could give a higher rating than “A” for Scott and Modern Exteriors!  My husband and I recently purchased a charming older home in South Minneapolis and called Modern Exteriors to take a look at the less-than-appealing stucco situation.  The previous owners had painted the house with bright pink paint.  They didn’t use stucco paint, so within a few months of moving in, the entire house was peeling.  Scott and his team sandblasted the house to reveal a substantial degree of damage that had previously been covered with excessive amounts of paint.  They patched all of the cracks and holes and even broke into some of the problem spots (like the chimney) to make sure that the structure was sound beneath the stucco.  After fixing all of the underlying problems, they redashed the entire house in a beautiful white finish.  They even reinforced the bolts holding all of the window boxes to the house.  Scott and his team were professional and considerate through the entire process: they always made sure my new windows and doors were taped and covered and they even made sure to cover the neighbors’ houses before sandblasting.  My neighbors even came by after to say how respectful and friendly they were.  I had a number of contractors come by to offer an estimate, but I’m very happy I chose to use Modern Exteriors.  I am absolutely in love with my new home and couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful result!"
