"The experience from the initial quote to the actual application of stucco was very smooth.  The explanation of the process and what to expect was very clear.
There were some repairs to the existing stucco (cracks) and this work was performed quickly and was well done.  Two weeks was allowed for the repairs to cure.  We asked for an estimate of when the follow on work would occur and Bill (McClellan) was right on time with his estimate.
The crew of four showed up on a Monday and began the process with prepping which included taping windows, removing gutter downspouts, removing lights, removing  house numbers, and erecting scaffolding.  Particular attention was used in lying down drop cloths.  It was clear that great care was taken to protect the house and plantings.
The individuals on the crew had clearly worked together for a long time and they worked very well together.  Everyone had a role and they used their time efficiently.
The end product is very well done.  It is apparent that the persons actually applying the mortar were trained and skilled craftsmen who had years of experience.  Their help with color and texture was very valuable.
The crew was very good about cleaning up.  They made certain that any mortar remains were cleaned up and that the driveway was washed down.

"Scott responded quickly and came out to give estimate. Having used him previously, I decided to go with his quote. He said he was booked out a ways but would fit my [smaller?] job in. Within a few weeks he came over, set up a scaffold and began removing stucco. As suspected, the damage was broader than his original guess after he removed material to find a firm surface. He told me there would be additional charges but the numbers remained reasonable. The area was repaired and covered with the first layer. After a week or two, the second/final layer was applied. The color is lighter than the old (ugly) stucco but I am happy with the result."

"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

"We called Hoffman Weber to diagnose and get an estimate on issues we were having with an overhang on our house. Clint Hanson came out, listened to our issues, took a look at things, and in the end offered some great advice and a referral for some minor work. He did not try to sell us anything we did not need. I really appreciate that and when we do need a new roof or siding they will be the first folks I call."

"Moisture inspection by a testing company revealed major damage behind the stucco at my Savage MN property investment property which I was trying to sell while living in Pittsburgh.  I had a buyer, but this surprise issue threatened to kill the deal.  Matt Roach orhestrated a meeting with my buyers, our agents and myself where he presented a plan for repair that was key to saving the deal.  His presentation was outstanding.  He gave my buyers confidence that their new home would be repaired correctly and on time.  I was very pleased with his bid which included a range from worst case to best case.  His experience with stucco issues was the key to my "going for it" with his company.  I was not dissapointed.  The work was done on time and per plan and cost was in line with his estimates.  The home is a showpiece today!

We also found moisture problems with a home we were buying in Lakeville MN so we again called on Sunset.  Several windows and some siding had to be replaced.  Again, Sunset came through on time and on budget.  Matt's crews did everything they were supposed to do and they did it right.  Also, the site was cleaned up and spotless at the end of every day.  I was delighted with their cleanliness and professionalism."

"We initially had them replace our deck and had them back to do attic cleaning and re-insulating, new roof, windows, fascia and gutters. Everyone from sales to workmen were great."

"Jim and his crew did a great job replacing the siding on our home. The quote was very competitive, and the quality of the work was excellent. There are a lot of moving parts with a siding job, and we were very pleased with how it was all handled, how it all came together, and the finished result."

"They helped a lot with getting through insurance hassles and pushing to get the entire roof repair covered. Once everything got approved there were a couple scheduling conflicts on both sides. They did accommodate us on timing to not conflict with a toddlers nap schedule. There were a few small items left unfinished that took some time to get completed, but they did come out and address everything."
