"I had to replace 5 skylights that were shot and leaking into our kitchen. I contacted two companies - Artisan, and a second one. Sol took personal ownership of every phase of the project, from initially scoping what was needed to overseeing his team through every phase of the work. I had one other quote - the company rep came over, took a few pictures from the ground, and gave me a verbal quote significantly lower than the one I received from Artisan. Sol, on the other hand, sent his best person up on the roof to not only look at the skylight issue, but conduct a thorough examination of the entire roof - which yielded quite a number of other problems I needed to attend to. Although his price was substantially more, the professionalism and expertise exhibited by Artisan sold me. We had a special order that took almost 2 months to be delivered, and Sol kept me posted routinely on the status. On the first day of the installation, he and his team determined that it would be prudent to close off the kitchen skylights with plywood to ensure his team's safety, minimize cold air coming in (they started on the coldest day of this year) and avoid potentially damaging debris landing in our kitchen. Even though this action would create another project for me to complete (and increase my cost), his explanation gave me the confidence that it was the right thing to do.
