"I have aluminum wiring and was initially determined to have it replaced with copper. I was convinced by Jon Phillips that this was not necessary and instead hot spots and panel could be evaluated by his company. Lawrence came and checked panel and previous alumicons connections put in by a different electrical company. He discovered my panel was not up to code and there were no alumicons for the grounding wires in outlets. He also recommended GFCIs at outlets to break the circuit if there was an issue as my panel would not support this due to the wiring. He was very I thorough in explaining it all to me. It took a couple of weeks to get a quote with persistence on my part. Luis came out and was very knowledgeable and determined to help me resolve all issues. I am happy that I chose an alternative to putting in all new wiring. It saved me a considerable amount of money and inconvenience, yet I now have 100% protection. I would recommend Andrews as they know their stuff and will spend a lot of time explaining in detail what and why certain updates should be done and I believe they did an excellent job."

"I worked with Martin and his crew to add a new panel, bring wiring to a newly constructed area, install light, switches, and new outlets. He did all the research and permitting that was required for the project. His pricing was fair, and among the lowest, his customer service was stellar and his work was excellent. His team was timely, polite, organized, and I highly recommend Streamline Electrical Contracting for any electrical needs you may have."
In some states and municipalities, licensed and registered handypersons can change a light fixture and do minor electrical work. However, you should check with your state and local licensing boards before hiring a local handyperson. In most cases, it’s safer and more practical to hire an electrician for this job. It may cost more, but hiring a licensed electrician means they’ll get the work done to code.
Special light fixtures, known as damp-rated light fixtures, are recommended in bathrooms, particularly if they're near damp areas like showers and over the bathtub. However, in most locations, they’re not a strict requirement. For safety and longevity, damp-rated fixtures are a better choice. If you work with a lighting contractor in your area, they may be able to recommend the right kinds of fixtures for your space.
Yes, it’s possible to run a second light fixture to a switch, meaning the light switch would control more than one light fixture. Several factors can impact whether it’s possible and how much it will cost. In many cases, it may be easier and more affordable for the contractor to install independent light switches. Talk to your electrician about your idea to get their feedback.
