"Tyler and Armondo are true professionals in their workmanship and customer service. They took on the challenge to install our new shower overcoming all challenges to construction and plumbing. Kept us informed of the progress (even though the company overbooked work). The long wait for install was well worth the end results. Best of all I didn't have to do it myself, and the warrenty is parfect."

"We were collecting quotes from various local vendors of water softeners, due to some long-standing issues with our water.
Nathan from Shiloh came out to look at our water and location and make recommendations. We were looking for a full install (we did not previously have a water loop to hook up to so needed that also.)
He ran what looked like a comprehensive group of tests, from a branded kit (Shiloh are a Kinetico brand dealer), on our kitchen faucet water. We received the results as part of our quote, at the end of the visit.
He did look around the property, especially the garage where the unit would be installed.
The visit concluded with two recommendations (one higher, one slightly lower cost) in the region of $4,500, to include the softener, a reverse osmosis system and installation (including the loop).
I received an email a few days later saying that they would not do the loop installation as they were not qualified and that I needed to have my own plumber to do the loop. Having to gather new quotes for this aspect highlighted the fact that it would be a further few hundred dollars to get the loop in and I was surprised that Shiloh would only make minor discounts from their original bill, despite no longer doing a major part of the install (the loop).
While I figured out getting the loop installed, I contacted other vendors during the pause. By the time I had spoken with other water professionals, I had learned a lot more about the industry and had a rough idea of the true costs of water softeners.
I won't speak too much on the brand Shiloh sell but they are the most expensive and promote features that were (in our case) available for less elsewhere or unnecessary (twin tanks, water-powered).
I also did what everyone getting water treatment must do before ever talking to a vendor - namely, have the water tested by a professional, independent lab. This proved very interesting as just about every vendor I dealt with had completely different results to the lab test and this can make a huge difference in what equipment or settings you would need.
Shiloh's results were definitely wrong on the iron content and pH. These are important - in fact, when I mentioned their pH result to the lab, they thought I would be lucky to have any faucets left as it would have been highly acidic! Shiloh are probably no different to the other vendors and they likely can't match the test results of a professional laboratory on a home visit but remember not to put too much stock in these vendor tests.
In the end, I told Shiloh I would not be doing business with them. I went with a local, independent water treatment company who had installed the community well and knew our water very well. They also put it in for half the price of the Kinetico system and their original quote had even included installing the loop which Shiloh would not do. As it happened, we already had the loop put in by our plumber and so the installer discounted the bill accordingly - again something Shiloh reluctantly did by a fraction in their quote.
Nathan seemed surprised when we said we were not interested in dealing with them any more. He requested feedback on why and seemed to think it was just because they would not put the loop in. Really that part was the beginning of me learning more about the science, business and practices and once I could see how all the vendors stacked up, Shiloh were out of the running because their units were too expensive, yet virtually did the same as units half their price or had features that were superfluous or not as impressive as marketed. Additionally, Nathan attempted to tack on things like "mileage fee" to the original quote which is something we don't stand for and for that alone, we would have ceased dealing with Shiloh.
Shiloh are not alone in selling high priced water treatment equipment but if you truly compare systems and don't fall for the glossy brochures and slick advertising, there are equivalent systems out there which will do the same job for much less. Remember to get several quotes and include an independent dealer who can assemble a unit from common (not proprietary) parts so you can see the wide range of prices. Most of all, get your water independently tested and compare it to the vendor tests.

01/07/14 I've amended my review and changed the overall rating from a D to a C. Shiloh had recommended an iron filter and my installer didn't think one necessary. However, their softener did little to change the yellow tinted water. Fast forward to the end of 2013 and our Homeowners Association offered to buy everyone iron filters if the homeowners paid to have them installed. We did this as we had little to lose and much to gain and the yellow water is gone - therefore, Shiloh were correct and I respect this point.

However, I stand by the rest of my review."

"We were extremely pleased with Powers Bath & Remodel. Their representative arrived on time to provide a bid. (The competitor's representative was two hours late and failed to call, so we didn't let him in the door.) The workers arrived as scheduled and completed the job in three days, as promised. They cleaned up every day, and the new bathroom looks fantastic. We were so satisfied that we asked them to replace the floor in our main bathroom. Unfortunately, they said the job was "too small," and they were fully booked through January."
