"SUMMARY: SES did high quality work. They stuck to the projected cost. They finished within the estimated timeframe (or at least close enough). PRELIMINARY STAGES: SES promptly returned our initial call and set up a visit by their estimator. Within a very reasonable timeframe (maybe a little more than a week), we had the estimate in hand. In contrast, we were shocked to see how difficult it was to deal with some other contractors--even in the early stage, when we were trying to give them business. DETAILS OF THE JOB: They gutted ~50% of a ~180 sq ft bathroom to the studs; did some framing/re-framing; removed a large tub and patched in some hardwood; completely re-did the mortar bed/tile/plumbing for the shower; re-routed an HVAC intake to a different part of the house; moved/added some plumbing and electrical; installed a new commode and tile floor in a new toilet closet; hung crown molding; installed a double vanity with a stone top; hung a large mirror and frameless shower door; built out 2 closets. QUALITY. Their renovation was high quality and fit perfectly into our 1930’s arts-and-crafts home. They found, sanded, and painted an old 5 panel door to match the doors in rest of the house. The salvaged/refinished pine floor fits into the existing pine floor seamlessly, and the new trim work matches that in the rest of the house. Their tile guy did an outstanding job on the shower—floor to ceiling with a bullnose and a niche. The subs they used for the vanity/stone top and for the mirror/shower door did a high quality job. We designed our closets and the trim carpenter built them out perfectly (soft-close drawers and all). COMMUNICATION. This was a big asset to the SES experience. Ashley kept us posted with an email almost every day. We knew what to expect when we got home from work, as well as what to look for the next day and the rest of the week. In the rare event that there were surprises or delays, Ashley would let us know right away as well as what the resolution would be. While Ashley was the main line of communication, the owner, Shawn, was very accessible as well when necessary. PROFESSIONALISM. All the people we interacted with were professional and punctual. The workers were respectful of us and our home, and they did a great job cleaning up every day. With very few exceptions, people were at the house every weekday (and even some weekend days), from the start to the finish of the project. THE UNEXPECTED. As the work proceeded, some minor structural damage from the old shower had to be addressed and the hot water heater needed some repairs. These were taken care off in a time- and cost-efficient manner. Otherwise, there were a few miscommunications regarding the electrical rough ins, a plumbing valve, the closet build outs, and the shower door. All these were very minor and easily addressed. Along the way—and especially as things neared the end—Shawn made sure we had everything exactly the way we wanted it. This was our first time hiring a contractor. Before our renovation, we had heard many contractor-related horror stories. Our experience with SES was drastically different. We are already scheduling another project with them."

"Samuel is extremely competent, timely, responsive, and transparent. Unfortunately, we had a roof installed a few years ago by a company who cut corners, and STMZ came to repair two separate leaks in the “new” roof. He documented every step of the process with photos, and explained what he was doing. (Most contractors, in my experience, do not take the time to explain the process to you!) I highly recommend his services, and if we ever need to replace the roof, STMZ will be the company we will call."

"Debbie contacted me immediately in May when I purchased a $149 for 4 hours of wood rot repair.   The weather was a major factor in the delay of the work being completed.  2 men came out and repaired a large hole in the fascia and other wood that had rotted.  They were quick, professional and cleaned as they worked. They went above and beyond in their work.   My only concern was the delay in communication of when the company would be out to do the repairs.   I emailed her thru the Angie web site, with no response.   I called her and she told me the weather was placing them behind in other jobs.  Then she called me two hours before the men came out to do the repairs.     I would use their services again.  I have Debbie's cell phone number and this is the easiest way to contact her. <br />"

"I emailed Jason through Angie's List. He was busy on a job but responded immediately. When he arrived at my home he was extremely informative, educated and aware of the entire process the project would entail. He submitted a bit within 24 hours and I hired him.  When he arrived to the job he worked efficiently and quickly to resolve the leaking bathroom.  When he demo'ed the existing structure there was never a mess, or any type of uncleanliness at all. He was extremely professional going up and down the stairs carrying the debris that could have scratched my wood flooring but didn't. He removed the toilet, and the bathtub without any harm to surrounding areas or wall. His work is remarkably level, accurate, clean and pristine.  When he was finished he did other small minor issues around the house as they became needed.  He repaired the sheetrock in my living room (where the leak traveled) without a seem or difference and without having to redo the entire ceiling.  He repaired the bedroom sheetrock that had some damage and then within a week he left and moved on to another job. <br /> I cannot tell you what an awesome experience it has been in words. To know you can trust someone to adhere to their word (estimate) to do a clean and professional job to the extent he did.  He has earned every single one of his 5 STARS from this very satisfied woman.  The bathroom tile and flooring looks so good that I keep starring at it.  I will continue to use Spectrum Reno time and time again because I understand the difference between a company who charges less and does a poor job verses having someone you can trust in your home to do the job correctly. Well done.  Thank you. <br />"

"Chuck was the contractor. He took time with us. Showed us some of his work in other houses. Helped us make decisions. Very helpful. We felt he was reasonable and felt like he really cared about the work."

"I give PandA Restoration an A plus!! It was hard searching through all the typical companies that want to charge exorbitant rates, perform mediocre work, and don’t really care about the customer. I was happy to find PandA, which exceeded all expectations by far. Paul was the first person to email me, was in close contact with me daily, and went over and beyond to work with me on the price (which ended up being about half of what other contractors wanted). He was honest, hardworking, fair, and delivered outstanding results. From now on, I will be contacting PandA only for ALL of my home’s restoration and repair needs."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Covington, LA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
