Installation crew for deck and patio did not rush or took any shortcuts and there work was very precise, neat and clean. "I highly recommend Deck Buddy. Our screened porch (inside and out), deck and stairs were badly in need of cleaning and resealing. We had 4 different companies out here to quote the job. Deck Buddy was by *far* the most professional of the bunch, extremely competent and moreover pleasant to work with. They came exactly on time and were able to answer all my questions and were extremely knowledgeable about the work and the products/services they would use/perform. Their bid was neither the highest nor the lowest. Their service tech spent 3 days here cleaning, repairing, and refinishing our porch and deck. It looks like new. I am so pleased. We have attempted to do this work ourselves in the past, and paid to have it done by a different company once before, but never achieved the results Deck Buddy did. I should add, that when we paid to have this work done before, it did not seem like the other company applied very much product to the wood. This time, with Deck Buddy, you can see the wood is thoroughly sealed. Also, in comparison to our earlier experience, Deck Buddy took care to cover all my plants and also the house siding to protect from overspray. (Not protecting my plants was a problem with a different powerwashing company we hired once - my hostas were shredded - you have to watch out for this). Deck Buddy was extremely careful with everything and left no mess or debris behind, the porch and deck look great, the garden is unscathed. It was a job well done. Thank you!!!!"

"From the time Kris was recommended by Home Advisor, he stood out from the crowd. He called immediately and scheduled an appointment, showing up on time, giving me an estimate for the work needed. I wanted most of the inside of our home painted plus outside trim and foundation and repairs to a bay window. As we walked around, Kris could immediately see what needed to be done. He did NOT try to make up things but spited things I already noted. He took time to explain to me his background/experience in the industry. he also told me how he and his team would do the work. I knew what needed to be done and how so his explanations made me comfortable with his expertise. He gave me an estimate of the time it would take and later emailed me a detailed breakdown of the expenses and work to be done. Once we decided to hire Kris, I signed a contract and made a 10% down payment so he could order supplies. He also came by a second time to help me select colors. I gave him our final decisions two days before work began. Kris orders paint from Sherwin Williams one day before work begins to ensure it is freshly mixed. The work crew arrived Monday morning at 8:15am as scheduled and began to prep the rooms to be painted that day. They moved the furniture to the middle of each room and covered it in plastic. Any rough spot, nail pops, loose wall tape, or dings were mudded, dried, and sanded. Fresh caulk was applied around the trim. Ceilings were painted and cut timing in around the trim and walls rolled with coats as needed. They concentrated on two rooms/areas each day so the rooms could be completed ASAP. Our master bedroom and bath have lofted 11 ceilings that add an additional challenge but they are well equipped to handle it all. Outside- repairs and painting were done expertly with proper tools and materials. Fresh paint on the foundation and shutters in addition to the trim and front door gave our home a fresh facelift. Throughout the week, if I had questions or noticed anything that needed attention, the attitudes of each and every crew member was kind and respectful. At the end of each day (4:30pm), they did a good rough clean and moved all the equipment and drop cloths out of our home. This reduced the disruption in the evening and overnight hours. We have wood floors throughout our home and they worked to keep them paint free. As with any painting job, that nearly impossible so I did take a wet sponge to a few spots each evening (less than 30 minutes) to ensure nothing set up. They returned the furniture and most wall hangings (as directed) to close to the original positions. They even moved our piano carefully! I can not recommend Kris Painting Services highly enough."

"I couldn't be more pleased with the deck repair that Jose and Melvin of JW Home Improvement performed for us. The attention to detail, beautiful joints, use of screws instead of nails, and the particular attention appearance and completeness. The site was left spotless. A special thanks for your dedication to working in such cold weather. Thanks."

"We had bushes removed and an overgrown flower bed cleared out. Work was completed in 1 afternoon including all clean up and removal. They even cleared the bank in front if the bed. We will use them for future projects of getting a new shed and fence. Very hard workers."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Aldie, VA

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
