"I've used Raecon Plumbing many times over the years. They are always very knowledgeable, and competitive price wise vs. other companies. Services I've used include water heater replacement , tub and shower remodeling, sewer clogs, drain replacements on sinks and toilets. Other drain lines buried both under my house and in the ground outside. I recommend to my friends and family as I'm a firm believer that once you find someone you can trust you don't need to look elsewhere."

"Frank does good work and is honest. It is just him doing the work and taking calls and not a fleet of plumbers behind a front desk. He is a master plumber and his prices reflect that experience. He is responsive and gave me a quote before doing the work. I have also since contacted him about additional plumbing related questions and he was able to help guide me toward contacting the county about my sanitary sewer test records. He was under no obligation to help me, but he did so anyway. Unfortunately the work that I need done may require snaking a camera which is equipment that Frank does not have."

"We had a big job to do and took a chance hiring a plumber through Angie's List, since we didn't know any. This was a great choice. My first contact was with Lori when I called. Pleasant and knowledgeable. Set up an appointment for Jay to come to our home and discuss what we wanted done. He arrived with Joe. My husband discussed the project and we set up the date for the work to be done. Arrived as was scheduled. Jay, Joe and Craig worked with us with changes and additions to the original plan. Never complaining. Some of the changes added to the project price but that was announced right up front. This job was to hook us up to the public sewer line that our borough installed a few years ago. We had a huge sump hole in our basement that took on the washing machine water and the utility tub water. And since there was no public sewer system in our area when we built, a sump pump was our only option to get water out of the basement. They jack hammered approx. 30 ft of basement floor and dug about a 20-25 ft ditch (approx. 6 ft deep) in our yard to run the gravity flow line. They rerouted a drain that came from the main floor kitchen and bath and added a trap to the basement floor drain. They closed off an additional drain that was set up for a future bathroom which will never be added. They removed and took with them our sump pump and a 3/4 inch thick, 4 ft x 3 ft (approx.) steel lid (seemed like 200 lbs) that covered the sump hole. This is another reason for the new sewer line. We are getting too old to lift this to change the sump pump. By the way this was all done with the guys going through our main floor to get to the basement as we have no outside entrance to the basement. Through all of this work they, all 3, were respectful of our home and us, pleasant to work with and a lot of fun. By the time they finished there was no debris left in the basement. Just a lot of dust which we knew to expect with all the jack hammering and digging they did. I would highly, highly recommend these people. You will never be sorry you did. I love Angie's List."

"The plumber was accommodating to coming out on such a short notice... THANK YOU! A service date was agreed upon and we were on our way to getting our new dishwasher usable.. He arrived on the service date, on-time and ready to work. He quickly assessed the situation and got to work. It only took a short amount of time and some and quot;elbow greaseand quot; to remove the dated old plumbing connection under the kitchen sink and installed the new appropriate fitting immediately. He was also very helpful in educating me on the fitting and how it was being installed. Payment was accepted and he departed within a 1 hour time of arrival. Very efficient and would definitely be calling back in the future as needs arise. <br />"

"We contacted several contractors to start on roughing in new lines in our home. Gary Bricker was really friendly over the phone. Not that phony baloney wheeler-dealer friendly, but genuine friendly. He arrived on time and conducted a thorough walk through, answering all my lay person questions and giving great practical advice. His employees were friendly and professional, and cleaned up after they were done. Due to budget constraints we are having all the work done in phases. We appreciated that Gary Bricker was OK with this, as not every plumber seemed open to working this way. We will definitely be hiring Brickhaas Plumbing in the future for the next phase of our renovation. Thank you to everyone for your fantastic services! -Peter and Stephanie Erickson"

"Called to find out rate. Got informed of an hourly rate. The date before got call to confirm the appointment and the work to be done, to replace 3 bathroom sink faucets. The date of the appointment we were informed that it would be fixed price per faucet instead of hourly rate. Because we had guests coming and it would have taken us another week or so to find some other provider I opted to proceed. When it was all done we were looking at over $150 more than if we had paid the hourly rate I was quoted. Additionally there was a travel fee which was not mentioned. I personally took exception on the travel fee because I can't imagine any plumbing work which would not include travel time. They should have at least mentioned it at some point during the initial call, the confirmation or the start of the work like they did about the fixed cost for replacing the faucets. Although happy with the work, do not plan to use them again. If they had properly informed me of the fees I likely would have still gone ahead with the work, but getting blindsided at the last second with unexpected fees is not something I look forward to when hiring a plumber."

"We had a significant gas leak in mid December and the gas company put in a temporary line that had to be permanently fixed in 10 days. I got multiple estimates, including from Mark Blackburn. Mark was professional, stated this is all they do and are very good at it and gave me an estimate over the phone. He stated the cost and what was included, which made sense to me. All other estimates I received were higher and the companies did not instill the confidence I felt from Mark. I selected Blackburn and was extremely pleased with all aspects. They scheduled a timely replacement, were able to use the existing gas line and not dig up my entire lawn, and were true to the cost (no unexpected costs or nickel and diming). The quality and service was excellent. Thanks Mark."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Aliquippa, PA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
