"Excellent, very satisfactory. Radon Brothers' rep came, saw the problem, and replaced the leaking radon exhaust PVC pipe in my basement floor. All in record time. Am very satisfied and will continue using Angi contractors."

"<p>Called the day before to confirm appointment.  Was on time. Showed Radon certification card from the state as soon as he arrived.  Very courteous. Was here for 4 1/2 hours. Explained everything to us.  Cleaned everything up completely. Couldn't have asked for any better work.  Jim is  the owner and installer. Excellent pricing.  It's nice to have the company owner doing his own work.  Would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a Radon system put in.  Put the system exactly where we asked him to put it in an out of the way area.  Over all a great experience with this contractor. "<strong>Scheduling Appointment:</strong> <br /> With the two home inspectors who I used in the past not being available, I came across Real Estate Inspection after spending some quality time with Google. I first spoke to the company president, Woody Watkins. Since I wanted to make sure I hired a good home inspector, I drilled Woody with questions and he was extremely patient and thorough in answering all my questions. He quoted me with a significantly lower price than four other quotes that I got, including the two inspectors who I used in the past. Woody helped alleviate my concerns that the low price would be reflected in the quality of work. <br /> <strong>Inspection Day:</strong> <br /> When my wife and I arrived at the home we were purchasing, the inspector assigned to my appointment, Pete Ciliberto, was already there and had already completed inspecting the roof. He caught us up to speed on what he had found and invited us to follow him around for the remainder of the exterior inspection. Despite the rain, he took his time to check every little thing. <br /> Once inside, he set up his electronic radon detection tool and explained how it worked. He spent over an hour inspecting the basement alone, explaining that he spends a lot of time in the basement since many problems can start in the foundation of the home. He used two really cool tools, an electronic gas detector and a thermal imaging tool, to check for gas and water leaks. His gas detector pinpointed the exact location of a significant gas leak within minutes. He even let us have some fun with the thermal imaging tool when my wife and I were curious what our face prints would look like on the wall. Throughout the <br /> remainder of the inspection, he took his time to inspect everything, took a lot of pictures, and provided us with a lot of helpful information. <br /> <strong>Report:</strong> <br /> I'm not sure what's more impressive… the fact that we got our report less than 24 hours after our inspection, or the quality of the report itself. The first part had a section that detailed what items required immediate action, along with another section with recommended action items. Pictures were provided throughout the document, along with explanations of the issues, how the issues should be fixed, and estimated cost of repair. <br /> <strong>Five Stars:</strong> <br /> Woody, Pete, and their new coordinator Andy, were also all quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. All three were very professional. Their service also included an environmental report and an appliance recall report. We used them for our radon, termite, and home inspection, as well as our re-inspection. <br /> Out of the three inspectors I have used, Real Estate Inspections is, by far, the best one. I have already passed on their information to two other friends searching for homes. They will be the only company I recommend to family and friends going forward. <br />"

"Larry was very professional, friendly, and punctual.  He encouraged my wife and I to follow him throughout the inspection and he thoroughly explained everything that he was doing.  If there were any notes he was making, he took the time to make sure we understood what the flaws/etc were in the home, the severity of them, and gave recommendations on how to get the issues fixed.  I felt he took adequate amount of time for the inspection and he did get up on the roof to do a close visual inspection of the condition. <br /> I did give a B for price.  The standard inspection cost was quoted as $500 (included pest inspection and radon test) <br /> but we were not able to get the water turned on prior to the inspection and we also did not have the HVAC unit running prior to the inspection and, therefore, those systems could not be tested.  I explained this to the agent over the phone who set up the appointment.  I was told that since the water system would not be inspected, we would have a $25 discount (5% off total price) which is nice but I would have expected a little more of a discount since testing the water/sewer systems would have comprised more than 5% of the work to be done.  Overall I'm happy with the service that was provided, felt pricing was somewhat fair, and based on the experience we had with Larry I wouldn't hesitate to use BPG again. <br />"

"Every step of the process with this company has been wonderful! From the office staff to my inspector Jon B, they were all very courteous, kind, patient as I had a lot of questions and overall just great people. I had a septic inspection with hydraulic load test which is done on a second day in addition to my home inspection, we had a snow storm that layed about a foot of snow on the yard and driveway! Despite this Jon B came out and shoveled so we could have the second day of the septic done in time! Absolutely amazing! I will never work with another inspection company! Im a customer for life!"

"Everyone from Allied (4 inspectors + termite inspector which was outsourced to an independent contractor) were wonderfully professional, polite, helpful and more than competent. I had a tight deadline, so one inspector even came out 2 days early which was a holiday to preset the radon and collect a water sample. This allowed results to be delivered to me on the day of inspection. <br />Our inspection was for a working commercial property and had to be conducted while customers were on the premises. I can't say enough good things about how professional, considerate and discreet they were as they moved around the building. <br />My very detailed final report was emailed to by early evening on the same day of inspection. It was easy to read and understand and contained pictures of everything discussed in the report. <br />Even the support staff in the office made scheduling the inspection easy. Everything was explained thoroughly, forms were simple and easy to use on line. Everything happened exactly as if been told it would. <br />I would readily recommend Allied and will use them again in the future. <br />"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"I called ComfortSpec and immediately was able to set up a date for an inspector to come out. We are purchasing a home and it needed to be done quickly so this was one less thing to worry about. They gave me my estimate and informed me of what each test would be as well as sent an email with the information. They also let me know what was expected on our end. The inspector came out and was very professional and informative about what he was looking at and where things were for the home as far as shut offs and electrical panels. The report was sent to me quickly and designed to help me understand the findings."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Allentown, PA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
