"It went really well. The selection process was painless and actually ended up being fun! Once we picked product we didn't have to wait too long for the install, we just had to wait a week for the products to show up and our house and acclimate. Once they started install everything went well and although there was a lot more dust than expected the crew cleaned up during and at the end of the project. Love the new floors and the fireplace makes a huge difference!! <br />"

"We arrived in Anchorage to discover our rental property required a full, but completely unexpected, remodel.  Needless to say, budget was a factor. <br /> Jamie Tamanaha promptly came out to our house to measure cabinets and countertops for the kitchen and two baths. Even though this was measured right before a holiday weekend, we still met just a few days later at the Florcraft Carpet One showroom. Jamie had line drawings of the kitchen and baths plus a computer-aided design program showing us different cabinet configurations for our spaces. <br /> Jamie knew the product lines extremely well. He demonstrated the different models' features, gave us pros and cons, informed us how well the different models would last/wear, and provided their warranty information. Jamie offered solutions to maximize cabinet space, usefulness, and convenience. Jamie was extremely efficient and professional. He answered all of our questions and there was never any upsell pressure. <br /> We went with the gorgeous Bellmont 1900 series cabinets and the beautifully durable Staron countertops. Bellmont cabinets are US made. We especially liked their "soft close" feature and "green certification". Staron countertops look good and are easily repaired. Since this was for a rental property, that was doubly important. Even though there was a six-to-eight week lead time, they arrived a little early. <br /> Florcraft Carpet One worked with us and our schedule. We were even able to remain in the house while the work was being performed! Jamie and the Florcraft Carpet One team provided exceptional service and support. They have our gratitude and highest recommendation. <br />"

"Advanced Flooring Solutions was the most professional company that we've seen in years! The men showed up earlier than expected, but knowing they were, they called ahead to make sure it was okay. Every employee we encountered were very polite. The men even cleaned up their messes during installation and when they were finished installing the carpet. They requested that we go up and look at the finished product and let them know if there was any issues. We also had a follow up call from the owner asking how they did. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to everyone we know!"

"A heater turned over and it burned some part of the carpet, and they did a really good job, I could not even see the stains or anything, I was scared, but they just came in and cut out the burned part and put a new one and had it covered. We had remnants of our original carpet, but I had to pay for the heating tape and labor."

"They were late in starting so had to come back the next day, but things generally went well. Looks nice. We thought we would be able to get a special order carpet within a week or so but then found it would take 5-8 weeks to order - misunderstood or were misled at our first visit - so went with one that was in stock. All in all, the place looks so much better than before so happy with the work."

"Seth was very knowledgeable and helped us narrow our choices from many options. We never felt pressured and were very comfortable with the whole experience. The install team, lead by Ralph, were prompt, friendly and cautious. He even showed me some tips for improving some of my DIY work around the house. We couldn't be more pleased with our purchase!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Anchorage, AK

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
