"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"Can I add a sixth star? Seriously what other rating can you give a guy who makes a living repairing appliances for spending 15 minutes on the phone helping to diagnose a problem I could then easily address myself **without** a service call or any charge at all!!??!! Don couldn't have been nicer, more decent, or more helpful. I hope I don't need any actual service calls in the future, but I'm thrilled that I now know EXACTLY who I'm gonna' call if I do. -- Adam in DC"

"<p>Appliance Repair Technicians maybe competent to repair other brands, but if you have an LG appliance, you are much better off going with their factory-authorized service.</p> <p> My 6-year old LG front-loading washer was stopping mid-cycle and would not complete a load.  I called two other repair companies who said they did not service LG, so I thought myself lucky that Appliance Repair LLC said they would service it, and I made an appointment for Monday afternoon between 1 and 3 pm.  When the technician did not show or call by 3:30, I called the office and was told that he was detained on an earlier repair that had taken longer than expected, and he would not be able to come until the following day. Although I am retired and can stay home to wait on repairmen, this is still inexcusable in my book, as most customers must take off work for repairs.  The technician arrived on schedule the next day, and recommended replacing the  sensor assembly, at a cost of $280. I reminded him that the motor was making a groaning noise as it attempted to turn the drum, which suggested to me that the problem was with the motor, not the electronics.  He assured me that replacing the sensor would correct the problem. After he replaced the sensor, tested the washer without any load, and left, I attempted to do a load of laundry.  The same problems occurred, and I called the company back. They sent the technician out again two days later, who then confirmed that the motor was the cause of the problem. That would have been another $360 repair, so I elected to replace the machine instead. To their credit, Appliance Repair did refund the difference between the initial charge and the basic service call charge, so my final cost was $60.</p> <p>While researching a new machine, I noticed that the motors on LG washers have very extensive warranties on their motors. When the Appliance Repair technician asked if the washer was under warranty, I replied that it was 6 years old. He did not suggest that anything might still be under warranty, but it turned out that the motor had a 7-year warranty. I called the LG service line, and was told I would be charged only for labor to install the new motor.  They dispatched a technician the next business day, who confirmed the motor was defective and also under warranty. He also pointed out that one of the three drum supports was broken.  These are shock absorbers that support the drum of a front-loading washer as it does its fancy turns. If one is broken, the drum is unbalanced and won?t turn properly, which was the cause of the burnt-out motor. He seemed surprised that the previous technician had not reported this, as it was clearly visible with the washer back open for service. He replaced the motor, broken support, and a third item he found, for $267, and the washer worked perfectly.</p> <p> <br /> <br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"Let me say at the outset that I would definitely call on Presidential Appliance Repair again if I have any other appliance issues (hopefully not). I found the company professional with top notch customer service and most importantly, they resolved my issue so quality looks to be top notch as well. The ice maker dispenser was not working so I looked up a few reviews and Presidential had some very good reviews so I took a chance. Happy to say all the other reviews were spot on. Priscilla from the mgmt office texted or called me w/in an hour of my original inquiry. She was able to secure a date that worked for me and something no one has ever asked me to do before is, she asked me to send her the model number of the refrigerator. She wanted to be sure the Technician/perhaps owner Tim, had the parts in hand so the repair could be completed right away. Really appreciated this level of efficiency. Tim came right on time, was very professional, conducted a thorough review and was able to diagnose the issue relatively quickly. Unfortunately what I thought/identified as the issue was different from the actual issue so he did need to order a part after all but it came in quickly - w/in a couple of days and the ice dispenser is working great again. As for fee structure, as of May 2021, they charge approx $90 for an initial assessment visit and once they diagnose the issue, there is a tiered service fee structure (and of course parts). I had a solenoid replaced and I believe the entire fee - initial visit, repair and parts was a little less than $250. Really pleased to have found this company and as mentioned, have added them to my roster of reliable companies. They are very responsive and most importantly, I believe they are trustworthy."

"I had used the same repairman at Repair99 previously and have always found him to be very helpful in explaining what the problem was and what needed to be done. He had to order a new part so had to come back again. Repaired my stove which had been damaged by tile installers. And even though it wasn't on his list of requested services, when I asked, he checked my microwave and found a crack in the magnetron which was throwing out dangerous microwaves. Was honest it saying he could fix it for x$, but that it would be cheaper to buy a new microwave which I did. $159 for repairing the refrigerator; and $458 for replacing the computerized electrical panel on my stove. I will continue to use Repair99 and ask for him again."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Andrews-Afb, MD

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
