"The Plumber was nice and did a nice job, but the estimate for just a clogged bathroom sink was $75-$150, when the plumber got here he said $300. Much more than anticipated. He ended up giving us $50 off for "new customer" discount when I complained about the high price for such a small job."

""Ok weld & sons plumbing are great. I had mentioned I snaked the upstairs tub myself but couldn’t get it far enough to fully fix it. He taught me how to get the snake in through the overflow to make it easier to go down! They’re so helpful.""

"Ryan was able to come out the same day to get my leaking laundry room fixtures back in service and stop the leak into my wall. When he shut off the main line he noticed it had a leak as well so he added that to the work order for me. Ryan gave me an up front price for performing the work. He was efficient and kept me informed. He cleaned up afterwards, tested everything and gave me some suggestions to keep it from occurring again. I definitely would recommend Ryan and Citywide. <br />"

"Norblom Plumbing was an outstanding company to work with. They were able to schedule a visit within 1 or 2 days. My husband talked with the plumber so I'm afraid I don't know what his name was. But he arrived on time, he listened to what was needed, tightened the front faucet which didn't need replacing after all, and replaced the back faucet. He was efficient and everything has been working perfectly since he was here! I also thought the price charged was very fair."

"I am actually a long-time customer of Tim's Plumbing so I called when I discovered a leaking water heater.  The contact person (Darryl) was very polite and efficient and explained my options in types and prices for new water heaters.  We agreed on the replacement model and he was able to schedule  work for the next day.   Installation was done by Steve Robinson who was friendly, efficient and very competent.  I am very pleased with the outcome and will certainly call Tim's again for any addition plumbing work. <br />"

"Things did not go well. After multiple delays, work was unacceptable and unprofessional. First off, Jeff seems like a great guy. This review is purely regarding the work. Jeff is personable and eager to correct the flaws in his work. Even the ones he told me he couldn’t see or understand. Like 90 degree cuts, uneven edges, uneven seams and incorrect measurements resulting in the cabinets having a tight fit on one side of the stove and gap on other. His inability to build a corner sink countertop (took a couple tries). After correcting nearly all the flaws, we thanked him and moved on. If you have straight counters without angles and no intricate cuts needed, this is your man. But if you’re looking for someone who can perform the technical work you might not be able to handle (which is why we hired someone), steer clear. A “C” rating is generous and is based on his attempts to correct his subpar work. I’m amazed he has an “A” rating."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Apple Valley, MN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
