Appliance Repair Technicians maybe competent to repair other brands, but if you have an LG appliance, you are much better off going with their factory-authorized service.

My 6-year old LG front-loading washer was stopping mid-cycle and would not complete a load.  I called two other repair companies who said they did not service LG, so I thought myself lucky that Appliance Repair LLC said they would service it, and I made an appointment for Monday afternoon between 1 and 3 pm.  When the technician did not show or call by 3:30, I called the office and was told that he was detained on an earlier repair that had taken longer than expected, and he would not be able to come until the following day. Although I am retired and can stay home to wait on repairmen, this is still inexcusable in my book, as most customers must take off work for repairs.  The technician arrived on schedule the next day, and recommended replacing the  sensor assembly, at a cost of $280. I reminded him that the motor was making a groaning noise as it attempted to turn the drum, which suggested to me that the problem was with the motor, not the electronics.  He assured me that replacing the sensor would correct the problem. After he replaced the sensor, tested the washer without any load, and left, I attempted to do a load of laundry.  The same problems occurred, and I called the company back. They sent the technician out again two days later, who then confirmed that the motor was the cause of the problem. That would have been another $360 repair, so I elected to replace the machine instead. To their credit, Appliance Repair did refund the difference between the initial charge and the basic service call charge, so my final cost was $60.

While researching a new machine, I noticed that the motors on LG washers have very extensive warranties on their motors. When the Appliance Repair technician asked if the washer was under warranty, I replied that it was 6 years old. He did not suggest that anything might still be under warranty, but it turned out that the motor had a 7-year warranty. I called the LG service line, and was told I would be charged only for labor to install the new motor.  They dispatched a technician the next business day, who confirmed the motor was defective and also under warranty. He also pointed out that one of the three drum supports was broken.  These are shock absorbers that support the drum of a front-loading washer as it does its fancy turns. If one is broken, the drum is unbalanced and won?t turn properly, which was the cause of the burnt-out motor. He seemed surprised that the previous technician had not reported this, as it was clearly visible with the washer back open for service. He replaced the motor, broken support, and a third item he found, for $267, and the washer worked perfectly.

"The repairman was great. He came in a timely manner, and finished even quicker. And the price for everything was great compared to what other companies were charging to fix our dryer. He found out that our dryer had a problem neither of us anticipated on happening, and was still able to replace the part the same day. 5-stars all day."

"I needed a refrigerator repaired & bought a deal ($74 for labor).  I was able to get an appointment for the next day & Mr. Jackson was on time.  He looked at the refrigerator, diagnosed the problem  & called for parts.  He left to pick up the parts & returned after an hour or so.  In the mean time, Mr. Jackson asked that I empty the freezer, which I did.  Once he got back, the repairs went smoothly.  In addition to the repairs, they cleaned the excess frost from the freezer, which I appreciated.  Mr. Jackson was very clear about explaining about the problem.  Apparently, the thermostat was broken, preventing the freezer from self-defrosting.  This led up to a build up of frost, which prevented the refrigerator from cooling properly.  (I probably didn?t explain this quite right.)  Parts ran just over $100 and the cost seemed reasonable.  My refrigerator is now cooling properly, making me a very happy camper.    The deal paid for the diagnostic visit & the labor for the repair.  All in all, I thought it was a great deal and great service.  I would definitely use A+ again.

"We have a contract that we pay monthly for any plumbing and appliance repair, like a home warranty. The guy came out the second time and told my wife that if they couldn't get it fixed they would buy a new dishwasher. So they rank very highly on my scale. 

What I like about them is that they do get the job done, but what I don't like is that you can describe in as much detail on the website what the problem is. But it's kinda hit or miss on whether they are have the necessary parts to fix the particular appliance. They almost always have to do second call or buy a part. So like with our dishwasher, they came out and sort of diagnosed the problem but they had to get the motor and things so you can be another week or 10 days with out the dishwasher. Which is not the end of the world. I understand why they don't do that because it could be expensive to buy the parts for all of the different machines that you are servicing."
