"Took them a while to unclogged because there are some issue on the drain on the city side. They then used a camera (free of charge) to check what it is that is clogging and found some anomaly on the pipe - you can see the tip end of the pipe which you should not see if it all straight connection. Also found grease that accumulated which have cause the stoppage. Joel called the city to get them to check their line and they did but we all know about the city workers ---- couldn't find any clog because Royal plumbing already unclogged it..so they just told me to call them when the drain backs up again. <br /> Seems like my issue is with the line on the city side so next time I have the same problem, it will be the city's turn to get it fixed. <br /> Joel also called me the next day to ask how did it go with the city...nice guy... <br /> Kudos to Joel and Royal Plumbing and will definitely call them again for my plumbing needs...except if the issue is with city drain ;) <br /> <br /> <br />"

"After a failed DIY attempt to unclog my sewer line, I called Ocean Plumbing after my regular plumber didn't answer his phone. <br /> He was here within a couple of hours. I began to worry that the problem was worse than a clogged pipe when his industrial size roto machine couldn't clear it. Using a high tech gadget to locate the spot where the snake stopped he dug down to expose and examine the pipe. Luckily, it was in good shape and not broken, which we expected. He then used another high tech deviced mounted on a trailer which used high pressure water jets to cut through the clog. The backed up sewage soon drained down and he was able to get a camera down the pipe, which showed a massive rootball, which he was able to shred easily with the cutting action of the water jets. <br /> James is very knowledgeable and professional, and determined as well. I will definitely call him again when I need a plumber. <br /> <br />"

"they were very helpful on the phone, believe it was a "Maggie" that answered the call and scheduled the visits. Understood that we had been without hot water for a while and worked the first call in very quickly with no hassle. the 1st tech came in assessed what was needed and called it in. They took only 1 day to order water heater and parts and the appointment was set the very next day. Parker was the tech/plumber who came in and did the installation, knew what he was doing, worked fast, clean and did a very professional job. would definitely recommend their services <br />"

"<p>On Wednesday morning, we noticed the drains were backing up. After 3 hours of trying to fix it ourselves, we decided we definitely needed a professional. Angie's List to the rescue! We called a couple of plumbers on the list but no one could come out until the next afternoon. Not good! My washer was on pause, the dishwasher was full, and most important, we could not use the toilets. We called Shoreline Plumbing. The receptionist said she would check with a tech and call us right back. She did call back in about 5 minutes and told us that someone would be there within the hour. About 45 minutes later, Parker showed up. He was very professional but friendly. Explained everything that he thought would need to be done and about what it would cost. Parker went above and beyond what we thought needed to be done to fix our problem. I would highly recommend Shoreline Plumbing and plan on using them again in the future.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"I am remodeling my kitchen. After removing the existing cabinets, I noticed a slow leak behind the wall where the sink supply line is. I also noticed the new cabinet next to the range would not fit over the existing gas line. Since I did not know the schedule of the cabinet installers, I chose to pay overtime and call a plumber out on the weekend to ensure the area was ready for the next phase. Lamar was very responsive and showed up within a few hours. Joey repaired the hot and cold water lines that feed the kitchen sink, but they leaked again and he had to start over which took him into his second hour at overtime rates. The gas line had to be moved six inches to the right because it would be in the way of the new cabinet width. Joey moved it and the distance would now allow the cabinet to fit. During the next week while I was installing the new flooring, I notice the gas feed was longer than it was before he moved it. It now protruded over seven inches from the wall. Measuring the cavity behind the range, I found that it allowed only four inches. I called Lamar to come out and redo the fitting and they said they'd charge me again because I approved their work. I did approve the new distance, but had no idea he added a three inch nipple in the process. I called the office and they also said since I didn't supply drawings, and they did what I asked, they stood firm in charging me for the re-fit. Never did they ask me for drawings or ask the depth requirement for the range. I sent them on their way. Totally dissatisfied, and won't call them again. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Aransas Pass, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
