"The job was done in a proficient and professional manner. The painting crew came in and went over the work to be done to confirm color choices and rooms to be painted. We had already moved all necessary furniture and the crew covered everything with tarps. The work was done very cleanly and fast. The finished rooms look very nice and we are very happy with the final look. Thank you Big Sky Country Contractors for a job well done. We will be giving you a call on our next project."

"Cody was very nice to work with for our bathroom remodel. He kept us informed of the process. He went out of his way to make sure we were pleased with his work. (We were unable to be present and he sent us pictures and updates.). He worked well with our renters to make sure they were involved with the process. His charges are reasonable. "

"The key to any successful remodel is communication and flexibility. Cole was very attentive to my needs and requirements and provided valuable suggestions in addition to excellent craftsmanship. <br /> He suggested a way to save on the tile required for the floor and shower. He also found a very reasonably priced source for the cabinetry. I saved so much through his suggestions that I was able to afford a custom granite top. <br /> <br /> From beginning to end the job went very smoothly. Cole was on the job and the work progressed smoothly, exactly as he promised. He was on-site when he said he would be and completed each stage of the work as he predicted. If I had questions, he was easy to reach. <br /> The dry wall sub he brought in was also excellent and did a superb job matching the texture and finish of the existing wall. <br /> <br /> All in all a terrific job and I am very happy with the results."

"When I first met with DNR Contractors, I explained what I wanted done, and they listened attentively, and made notes of all my concerns.  In the kitchen and bathroom, they noticed some potential problems, and explained them to me.  They also made suggestions to make the outcome more attractive, and more efficient.  . In the kitchen, in two areas, there were 3   old cupboard doors  and two of them opened up against each other. They asked if I would be interested in changing the middle cupboard into 3 drawers, which would make it look more uniform.  I am thrilled with my additional drawers.  They also gave me different ideas for  designs for the cupboard fronts, and I now have a very unique kitchen.  In each project, they gave me a solid estimate, and did not have any cost overruns.  They worked very efficiently, and finished the work quickly, even on the work they performed in the winter.   They were very professional, cleaning up each day, so our lives were not disrupted anymore than absolutely necessary.  They have completed 6 projects for me, and I plan on having them do more remodeling in the near future. "

"Ken had a competitive bid, slightly lower than the others we called. We started the remodel in late June/early July 2010 with the goal of being completed by August. The first three weeks went well, but then walling took a while as we had wet weather. The plumbing also was poorly done and we had to call the plumber back about three times to correct errors, fix leaks, etc. A poor setup caused a water hammer that ripped the pipe out of the wall in the upstairs bathroom, for example, and ruined our kitchen faucet. Around the end of July it was like Ken disappeared. We saw the drywallers occasionally but heard nothing from Ken. Once the drywall was finally done we painted ASAP so we could finish up the trim etc. we painted over Labor Day weekend, but the trim wasn't finished until November, once we threatened to sue. He must have gotten a better paying job elsewhere as far as we could tell. We kept trying to get a final inspection set up through him with the city to clear out the permits but he never returned our calls. We eventually called the city ourselves and got the inspection. Everything was done well but I don't think it was worth the hassle. I'd have gone with the more expensive guy if it would have saved us the frustration."

"Pat was punctual with his estimate and followed up with me to review the estimate.  His contract was thorough, included documentation of work to be done and the expectations of both T. S. Phoenix and myself.  He was punctual when starting the job and completed it on schedule.  During the job, he explained what he was doing and why, what materials he was using and why, and told me what to expect going forward.  Good communication both before and during the job.  Professional in all ways. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Arlee, MT

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
