"Brian was very conscientious about keeping us informed through every step of the project. His custom window trim woodwork exceeded our expectations and created a stunning, new, upscale look in our living room and breakfast area. I hired Brian because of his 5-star customer rating and his more-than-fair pricing. A definite win-win. Brian will be coming back to install additional wood trim in our upstairs living room and bedrooms. Highly recommend!"

"Paul Timberlake is a professional craftsman. He first called and we scheduled an appointment for him to came out to see the work we needed done. He explained how he would complete the project and answered all our questions in terms easy for us to understand. I find this is a very professional way of doing business. On the day our project was to start he first sent me a text and next he called me to let me know he was picking up materials and would be at my home shortly. I was delighted with his communication. When he arrived he was well prepared for the job. I prepared a simple contract setting out the terms of the job which was signed by all parties. He immediately set to work and worked steady all day without any breaks. To my knowledge he didn't stop even for lunch. He was to strip off the siding on the back of my garage and replace it. He discovered we had some wood rot which he pulled out and replaced in a professional way. He removed an old exterior door and replaced it with a nice steel door and did a great job. When he finished replacing the siding he installed trim around the new door and the window. I was delighted with the fit of the siding it looked really great. The next day Paul arrived early with the cedar posts for our front porch. He removed the old porch railing and the three posts. Then he installed new cedar posts jacking up the porch roof and placing new post hardware to prevent direct contact between the bottom of the posts and the concrete. This, as he explained, is to prevent the posts from sitting in water when it rains. Each of these brackets were anchored into the concrete. He finished up by adding two decorative braces on each post. Very nice job it looks amazing. He then cleaned up all the debris from the project and hauled it to the dump. Paul Timberlake is by far the most professional contractor we have ever used. My husband and I are extremely happy and we would feel very comfortable recommending Paul to all our friends and family."

"Obi came and assessed the few different things that needed fixing, quoted a reasonable price and gave a date to complete it. He showed up on time, finished all the work and did a great job. He painted a few trims outside, replaced 2 indoor ceiling fans and repaired/ replaced rotted wood on the chimney. I will definitely hire him again for handyman jobs."

"I have Henry twice to paint most of the rooms in my home and he has always done a wonderful job. Some of my rooms had dark colors and he did as many coats of paint as it needed to cover them with much lighter colors. He also installed new lighting in my kitchen. He is such a nice person to have working in my home. Always prompt, and Christy lets me know when he will arrive. Thank you HenryJudith"

FAQs for interior trim and decorative moldings installation projects in Arlington, TX

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
