"I have used Deluxe to clean my Persian-style Karastan carpet for 40 years. I wouldn't trust it to anyone else! They have always done an excellent job, including fringe replacement when needed. They are not cheap, but if you're looking for quality, they deliver. I highly recommend them. Note: price includes pickup and delivery."

"The salesperson, Mark (?), was great. Very thoughtful and generally a really nice guy. I was looking to recarpet two bedrooms - didn't want to spend a ton and didn't want anything super plush. He steered me towards some good possibilities. Shopping for carpeting can be very overwhelming. Once he came out to the house to measure, it became clear that some options would create a clearance problem with closet and bedroom doors. I am glad he noticed that because otherwise, I'd have had to have the doors removed and cut -- costing me more. The installers were prompt, polite and thorough. And very quick. Remarkably so. The only negative comment I can make is that the pad installed is not as cushion-y as I had hoped. Because of the concern about door clearance, a very thin pad was recommended. As it turns out, I could have gone with something a bit thicker, which would have been a lot better. Even the installer was surprised by the choice but at that point it was too late. <br />"

"They should have more clarity with pricing. The installer was talented but his bedroom manners left something to be desired. He was very skilled but condescending. The price was close to the competitors. It ended up being more expensive but we had to have a lot of work done with the subfloor. The sales guy was very professional but the installer that came was a B. I'd give A for the sales guy and B for the installer. I would go to them again. The pricing seemed reasonable on buying the actual wood. The installer was very skilled but challenging to work with. If your floors need a lot of work in terms of leveling out a subfloor, they have very skilled people but they won't necessarily be pleasant to deal with. You'll be happy in the end with the quality of what they did."

"Prompt, personable, and professional. Pardon me if I glow, but... <br /> Sarino answered my phone call immediately. In this particular case, I didn't even have to contend with the voice-mail and call-back scenario so typical with vendors these days. He gave me a reasonable quote on the phone right away, so we scheduled a service appointment for the next business day. On the morning of the service, he called me to confirm, so I never had any worries whether he'd be there as promised. <br /> We needed this service because we had just completed remodeling two rooms with bamboo hardwood floors and wanted simple, clean and quot;stretch-and-tuckand quot; thresholds in the doorways where the hardwood met the hallway carpet. Sarino was able to install new tack strips in the doorways, trim the excess carpet and pad, stretch the carpet nice and tight, trim it, and tuck the loose end into the threshold, snug against the wood flooring. In one case, he even had to trim the exposed hardwood and quot;tongueand quot; off the flooring (the planks used a tongue-and-groove mechanism for installation) so that there would be no gap, dip, or shadow between the carpet and the wood. <br /> Sarino even looked at another metal-cover threshold done in a different area and suggested we could give it the same treatment. I wasn't sure it was possible because there was no excess carpet, but after examining it, Sarino was able to stretch the carpet enough to make it work. So basically we got a bonus threshold and he didn't charge us anything extra. <br /> The result is three clean, seamless lines between the carpet and hardwood/tile. There are no bulky, shifting cover-plates to trip over, and no perpetually loose nail-heads to snag our socks. There's just a natural-looking transition. I couldn't be happier. <br />"

"Matt arrived on time, measured the areas, and got to work cleaning some very dirty places in our carpet, including stairs. He was pleasant and professional, and quick. He finished in less than 2 hours, and everything looks SO MUCH better now. He told us that everything would be dry by morning, and it was. We will have him back later in the year when we get our place ready to put on the market. <br />"

"Overall a pleasant experience.  we went to Armstrong's shop on West Portal and with the assistance of a knowledgeable salesman, Kevin, selected suitable carpeting.  kevin came to see the apartment, measured it out and sketched the best and most economic way on cutting the carpeting to fit the premises.  This measuring of the floor plan is somewhat tricky because of alcoves, closets and diagonal cut-offs.  But he managed beautifully.  The overall price was less by several hundred dollars than 7 years ago when the apartment got the last carpeting job.  This even though the square foot price of the carpeting was almost the same.  Kevin also has a very keen 'color sense,' which helped in harmoniously matching the existing wall colors with the carpeting. <br />"

"Had to have my 1 1/2 year old bathroom floor re-tiled. Original company refused to fix the creaking floor. Rod did a fantastic job in a timely manner. Super happy with the job. Would definitely hire again. Honest, professional and hard worker."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Atherton, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
