"Monday morning (8/28/17) we woke-up to no water. After checking the obvious, circuit breaker, etc., I looked on Angie's list for highly rated well drilling and service companies I called Scott at 5:45am, expecting to leave a message, but he answered the phone and said he could be here by noon. He called back later to say he would come even earlier. He, Jim and Bill replaced my submersible well pump, all new piping and wiring, and air tank with all new fittings, pressure valve, etc. They were respectful, responsive, answering all my questions, and Scott told me up-front, after determining the problem, how much it would cost. The ONLY thing I would say as constructive criticism would be for them to make sure they ensure the area of work is clean and in the shape it was prior to the work being done, but it wasn't bad, and maybe just an oversight. I would definitely use Ries again (but hope there's no reason to)."

"Originally, we brought Lalone and his team in to repair our well after it was sideswiped by an automobile in the driveway.  We still had water but wanted to make sure that everything was "A-OK".  His technician discovered that the power supply line for the well had not been properly grounded in the pump housing when the original installation was completed thereby resulting in a potentially disastrous electrical hazard.  This problem was corrected the same day and the well's operation passed muster.   <br /> More recently and much to our surprise,  while getting breakfast ready, we discovered that we had no water even though everything was fine the night before.  Puzzling.  Mike responded to our call by sending out 2 technicians who diagnosed and corrected the problem in less than 5 minutes (ironically, the power supply to the well pump in the house had been taken off line in error - LaLone's boys remedied the deficient condition and cheerfully observed that I could blame my sister-in-law who had been in the basement the night prior. <br />"

"Gensons was able to get someone out to my house quickly and worked around my schedule. The work was done quickly and with high quality. Though I can't remember the exact price, I do remember being pleasantly surprised at how low it was. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I've got some further work to be done on the pipes for my sprinkler system, and I'm certainly going to call Gensons back to take care of that."

"Things seem to go well at first. When they opened the well head they learned that the old well pump had rusted completely off and fallen into the well. They said it was OK to leave it down there but when the owner showed up, he started talking about fishing it out for another $100. That did not happen. So they installed the new pump which worked fine for maybe 20 minutes. But it kept tripping the circuit breaker inside the house. They could not figure out why and kept pulling the pump back out and fiddling with the wires. Then it stopped pumping water altogether. <br /> Finally the owner came back and said it was a bad pump even though it was supposedly new right out of the box. By this time, I had left for work so I did not see them actually install the replacement which I assume was new and of equal or better quality to the first one. I can't remember the brand name. After they installed it, everything seemed fine except we were not getting water out of some faucets in the house - mainly the kitchen sink and one of our bathrooms. The toilet and shower were fine. That is when they told my husband that is is common for faucets to plug up after changing a well pump and that we needed to call a plumber. Mind you, these faucets worked fine before the pump was replaced. But they told my husband that sediment or something gets in the pipeline and plugs it up. They suggested taking off an aerator and cleaning it. I am not mechanical and did not know what that was. <br /> To his credit, the owner responded by phone to our complaints for the next two days and offered to come back out. But I had already taken off a half day of work and my husband took off the whole day on the day the pump was fixed. So the earliest I could arrange another visit was the folliowing Wednesday when I took the day off work again. The owner said they would be here by early afternoon and would call before coming. When I had not heard from them by late afternoon, I called and got an answering machine. My husband and I called a few more times later in the day and never heard back from them. I consider that the height of unprofessionalism to miss an appointment and not even call. I ended up calling a plumber who knew what an aerator was and promptly unplugged it. As simple as it was to fix, seems like the well pump people could have done that as a courtesy instead of leaving with me no running water in the kitchen sink. My husband paid them but if I had still been at home, I would have refused to pay until they got my water running again. I had no way of being certaint if it was the aerator or some problem with the pump itself or water pressure. I dunno. I pay experts to figure this out for me. <br /> Long story, short. I will NEVER use this company again and this experience also has made me skeptical about how trustworthy are recommendations from Angie's List. Sorry but that is just the truth. I have too much going on in my life to have to hassle with incompetent repair people requiring repeated time off my job to try to get problems fixed. <br /> If I had to do it over again, I would wait for the highly recommended other well guy. <br />"

"From the moment Joe picked up my call the plan was formed. Fast turnaround on site visit for estimate. Very fair pricing. Lead time was long, but that's the state of things now. When time came to execute project, there were no delays. His office organized permits and inspections. His crews were courteous, hard working and left the interior job site in a broom-swept / shop-vac'd at the end of each work day. The exterior driveway was hosed down and scrubbed from all debris. Drainage system installation was done very nicely, using all proper fittings, cleanouts and flashings. The new concrete pour was feathered into the existing concrete slab very nicely. I likely won't buy a post-war bungalow missing a sump system again, but if I do, WaterBGone will be doing the installation."

"when tech showed up the dryer seemed to be working and heating however it did not when I called, seemed the heating element was cracked creating and off and on working condition. I went ahead to repair the problem by purchasing a new heating element. I was surprised however that the tech expected me to pay in full before he ordered the part and repaired the problem, but I did using my credit card knowing if there was a issue the credit card co. would have my back, The part was order and Alex fixed it as soon as it came in and was great"

"I left Mike a message on his voicemail and he returned my call very  quickly.  Made an appointment for estimate and he was very prompt and personable.  Said they would open it up and see if cleaning it out would do the trick and if not would have to replace the pump.  Gave me a total estimate and set up the appointment for 8 a.m. the next morning.  Mike called me a 11 p.m. and informed me the supply place would not be open until 8:30 to have his plumber pick up the new pump in case it was needed and would be out by 9:30 a.m.  It was nice to get that call at night instead of waiting the next morning.  Plumber arrived at 9 a.m.. <br /> He opened it up and said it was clean but the pump would not run.  He replaced the pump, cleaned up the area upon completion. <br /> Overall I was very happy with the service and would use them again if needed (hopefully will not) and would recommend Prime Plumbing  to do the job. <br />"

"For the first time in years my basement is totally dry after a rainstorm!   What a relief!  After hearing horror stories about digging up foundations and incredibly expensive repairs, I finally got it done.  It turned out to be simple and at $500. affordable. The guy came and injected the crack with a (urethane?) foam.  It oozed out and sealed everything up.  The guy was neat and tidy and finished it up really well. If I painted it you'd never know there was a crack.  Thanks Guys!  I am super pleased!"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Attica, MI

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
