"You can't beat local family-owned businesses. Jason came out when he said he would and quoted a carpet stretching job for me. Often people won't waste their time on small jobs like this because it's a lot of work and not a lot of money for the effort invested. That or they just knock it out quickly and do a sub-par job to get to their next job. This was not Nei Brothers Carpets. He was on time, did the job perfectly and did it in the time frame/cost he stated. You cannot ask more from a business."

"We were very satisfied with JRE Carpet Services. We contacted Jorge to give us an estimate to install carpet in a home which we had purchased from a local big-box retailer. Jorge gave us a competitive estimate and said to give him about a week lead time to schedule the work. When we were ready to have the carpet installed, we contact Jorge who schedule a time as promised. On the day of the installation, Jorge and his crew came and installed the carpet as agreed upon. The workmanship was excellent, and they left the job site very clean. We were very satisfied with the work performed. <br />"

"Universal was fantastic - they were responsive, open to listening to ideas we had on carpet and were very accommodating. They installed when they said they would and the installers were professional, helpful and had no issues wearing masks while installing on a warm August day. I would use Universal again."

"Everything went extremely well. The installers were punctual and very friendly. They did all of the heavy lifting, moved the furniture out of the areas that were to be carpeted, repositioned the furniture after the carpets were installed, and brought in the new furniture which was stored in the garage. We will hire them back in the springtime when we have the rest of the house (second floor and stairway) carpeted."

"Lance is wonderful. He reached out right away after I submitted my project on Angie’s List. We set up a good time for him to inspect the job. Lance stretched 7 Year old carpet so it looks new again! The installer we used before said nothing could be done and walked away. Thanks again Lance!"

"I needed some stair-runners installed. The owner, Mike, came out and measured my stairs. Mike was detailed and very knowledgable and even drew a sketch of my stairs for me. The price quoted seemed fair. Unfortunately, due to the runner material (hand knotted), and pattern i selected, Windy City Carpets was unable to install the rug the way I wanted (expanding the rugs on the pie shaped curved pieces of the stair). But they were honest and prompt, I would hire them if i need future services for more standard rugs."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Aurora, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
