"Ed retrieved the carpet from Home Depot, saving me their delivery cost. He removed the old carpet and padding, then installed new. He swept the bare floor before installing the pad, and vacuumed the carpet when the job was completed. All told, it took him about 2 hours. However, he didn't have to install tacking strips (since the room had already been carpeted), so if your job needs those, it would take longer. Friendly, courteous, prompt."

"They are excellent. They do all of my carpets, they do a great job. They are thorough. In terms of just doing my regular carpet they do as well as anybody but as far as doing my oriental carpet they are expensive and need special care. They come and pick those up and take them and clean them and bring them back and lay them down. It is always done with great care."

"Came and measured the room and quoted me a price. After I agreed he proceeded to clean the carpet.  Got out stains that a larger company had previously claimed could not be removed.  Also removed rust stains from carpet where furniture was sitting.  Did a great job and the carpet looks and smells like new!! <br />"

"We wanted to extend the existing prefinished hardwood in our entry/hallway into the adjoining dining room and kitchen / eating area.  We obtained 3 bids and found out our existing hardwood was no longer make.  Schumacher was the only one to workwith us to find a suitable prefinished hardwood.  They found one that would complement our existing hallway and suggested using a darker border around the dining room as a way of separating the 2 woods so they would not clash. <br /> The installation crew was great (timely, professional, qualtity work, good clean-up).  I work out of my home and they were able to coordinate their noise with quiet time I needed to make calls.  We like their results. <br /> The only down-sides were some internal communication issues within Schumacher  (they told me one date for the delivery of the wood and it was missed; we have cathedral ceilings and they did not tell the installation crew they needed tall ladders [I let them use my ladder] and wide plastic sheets to segregate the areas to be demolished (from dust); and they provided the crew one box long of one type of wood and on box short on the other, this resulted in an extra half day of installation) [these need to be corrected; they would have been a huge scheduling issues if I did not work from home]"

"The people on the phone are all very professional. The guys that come here are professional and they know what they're doing and the things that they're talking about well. I'm kind of in awe of the knowledge that they have of carpet and whatever. They don't look like a bunch of slobs either. They'll be here in an hour."

"The price was $13,000 and that included the floor/ cali bamboo. I purchased the flooring there and they installed. The quality was kind of weird. The issues went away but they used an under padding/under material underneath the cali that was very noisy until you walked on it a couple of months. Now, it is perfect. They told us that it would take a while for the noise to go away. Our problems are behind us. I was told one thing and I didn't want quarter rounds and they had to use quarter rounds. There were few minor things like that. I painted all the baseboards and quarter rounds because when they came in, the material was dirty and didn't look very good. I personally painted that myself. However, Lowe's gave me credit for doing that work. They took care of me, I am not complaining."

"Had an issue with my floor drain backing up in my finished basement.  They pulled carpet back, cut out sopping wet carpet pad, bagged it all up and took it too the street.  Along with that the owner, Mark Weiler, came out and ran some tests on the moisture in the walls.  He found that the walls needed to be dried out, they were very damp as well.  He then placed 4 dehumidifiers, 5 fans to get things drying out.  Once dry, they will proceed to replace carpet pad, re-stretch and re-seam carpet.  This work will be completed today."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Aurora, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
