"Tony was very prompt, professional, brought samples and discussed with me options for I was looking for in replacing the carpet. I felt at ease with the decision-making process, and comfortable right away giving them my business. He checked in day of install and the crew was efficient, worked hard to get a big job done. Highly recommend them!"

"Brian worked me into his schedule and did a really good job! The previous installation was not done properly and he suggested a couple of things that improved the appearance of the stairs. After I called Brian, I had to quickly prime and paint the stairs moulding before he arrived. He installed the carpet with barely a nick in the side moulding! I would call him again."

"In 2006, we bought carpet for several rooms in our house. Because we had (messy) kids, we didn't replace the carpet in their rooms. Fast forward 6 years. The kids have moved out. I've repainted their rooms. I need carpet to match the carpet we bought 6 years ago. I called Carpet Stop because we bought the original carpet from them. James Eklund was the salesman who helped me then, and he was my contact this time also. He pulled the records, found the same carpet in the same color (not an easy task). He came out and measured the rooms and we discussed the probability that the colors wouldn't match exactly. We decided to go ahead with the install. The installers (the same crew from 6 years ago) did an excellent job. They fixed some wrinkles that had developed in the living room carpet. The charge for this was a $20.00 furniture moving charge--more than reasonable. The color was a little different, but unless someone points it out, no one will notice. We have one more room that needs carpet. When we decide to replace this, we will use Carpet Stop. <br />"

"Doug and Don were very easy to work with.  Doug went over how he would stretch the carpet and why his method was better than how the carpet was originally installed.  He guarantees his work until the carpet is removed.  There was a seam that was very noticeable.  He said he could make it almost invisible so I had Doug and Don return a few days later to make that repair.  I am very satisfied with their work and their honesty. <br />"

"Patrick is extremely knowledgeable about carpet and tile cleaning.  We have utilized his service several times and he is always responsive, punctual, courteous, friendly and his prices are reasonable.  We have used big names like Stanley Steemer in the past, and he does just as good if not better work at a fraction of the price.  I highly recommend Green Clean Carpet Care. <br />"

"This company is awesome! We had wood, tile and carpet floors installed in our house and they came out fantastic! The wood floor installers were artisans and you could see their skill and knowledge in the way the floors were installed. They took pride in their work and it shows. The tile floors turned out perfect too. The tile was perfectly cut for some of those odd corners and the skill involved shows. Just like the wood floor installers, the tile floor installer took pride in his work. As for the carpet, that was another awesome job. They installed carpet on two staircases and the family room. The install is flawless. We are amazed at the incredible work that was done from Peoples Signature Flooring. They have the best installers and I doubt anyone can do better than these people do. From beginning to end, Robert Peoples helped us with making decisions on selections for wood, tile, and carpet. His expertise combined with the talent and knowledge of his installers make this one incredible company. And it was a pleasure working with Robert, Julie, and all the installers. In a nutshell, I highly recommend this company – their work is unsurpassed."

"From initially walking in their storefront to "check them out" based on investigating reviews on Angie's List to the final wave good-bye, we were consistently impressed by their knowledge of wood flooring, attention to detail, professionalism, and the results. Our floors look amazing, the installation was expertly done, they cleaned up consistently, acted professionally yet friendly at every step.  We had a repair that needed done on another wood floor that they performed expertly as well.   <br /> I cannot say enough about this company.   I only wish we had found them sooner so that they could have done our whole house. We also appreciate using a local, family owned and run business. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Austin, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
