"Tom replaced my kitchen faucet and two bathroom faucets and did an absolutely excellent job! He was extremely professional and the cost was much lower than what I expected! While here he also took care of a slow drain with my master tub and it now drains perfectly! I would highly recommend him to anyone with any plumbing needs!!"

"Showed up on time (and on the day after Christmas!!). Spent a good deal of time explaining how our septic system works (never had one before and knew NOTHING about them!) and thoroughly cleaned the tank and replaced the cover and the dirt--like it never happened! The gentleman was very patient with my ignorance and answered every question I had--making sure I truly understood what he said. I would ABSOLUTELY RE-HIRE Jerry Mills Septic Pumping service!!"

"We were getting ready to go out of the country in three hours when we noticed a puddle of water in a back bedroom. After calling several people, we got a hold of Brandon. He said that he was sorry but unable to come out until the next day. We explained the problem and advised him that we would be gone but our daughter would be home. He called back in less than 30 minutes and said he was on his way. He did a very complete job and was very friendly and courteous. I would use his company again in a second and have told all my friends about him. Thanks Brandon you made our vacation much more enjoyable. <br />"

"The project went very well. My property suffered a double discrepancy situation. I received a higher than usual water bill. At the same time, found water flowing from underneath the entrance to our driveway. Water line failure. So the fix is, two birds one stone so to speak. Since the meter was still ticking when Billy arrived, he located the water leak and decided to bypass the leak entirely with new equipment. That way, we both had time to figure out our next steps to repair while the water meter was not consistently running. Then, he brought in excavation equipment, demolished and removed the debris that same day. Even with a slight weather delay, the project was done timely, and at the end we were very satisfied with the finished effort. Billy kept me well informed with text and photo messages. He bid this project within my budget and we got started right away. I would recommend Mr. Hays expertise and have already to MacDill AFB contracting personnel."

"Perfect installation. We had used Busto a few years ago and before joining Angie's list for a tank less water heater installation. That went so well we called them to relocate the water softener and were pleased to see them on the list. Julio arrived early and was very nice. The washer and dryer needed to be moved out from the wall to access the drain pipe. When all was done everything was back where it belonged and just as clean as before. Julio is fantastic and when done all was cleaned up liked before he came."

"Rick was willing to come to my house 2 hours after he was informed of my need to have the kitchen drain cleared; however, in our telephone conversation, this wonderful man patiently explained how I could clear it myself. Love this plumber who saved me $$$$ for a service call."

"Dewey did a great job for us as he has in the past.  He is low key, works quickly and cleans up when he is done.  I have been very pleased with this company both times they have worked in my home.  If I have any plumbing issues in the future Dewey at Howie's Plumbing will be the first call I make. <br />"

"I had requested my appt for that day at 9:30 which was supposed to be the first appt. I called their office at 10 am asking where they where. They had decided to do another job prior to mine and never called. As I was on a tight time schedule this did cause me to have problems.  They did come later that day and pump out the septic tank and did a good job. They brought plenty of extra hose so they didn't have to drive on my grass, which was excellent.  I had also requested an estimate for replacing my drain field. The owner confirmed that I did need to have it replaced and told me he would email me an estimate. I have not heard back from him at all and its been over a week.. very disappointed that i have not gotten my estimate..I have decided to use a different company for the drain field replacement. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Babson Park, FL

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
