"Gage from Custom Radon Mitigation Systems did an amazing job installing my radon mitigation system. Upon arrival, he determined the best location in my mechanical room where to install the system, provided a timeframe for completion, kept me apprised of where he was in the process and informed me on how the system ran. Before the installation, my radon levels in my finished basement were routinely well above 4.0 pCi/L with a high of 14+ pCi/L. Since installation and checking for a few days, my radon level is often below 1.0 pCi/L and no more than 1.5 pCi/L. I'm very pleased with the system and Gage's professionalism. I sleep better at night knowing that my RadonEye device won't be setting off an alarm 2-3 times a day now. If you're considering a radon gas abatement system, I highly recommend Gage and Custom Radon Mitigation Solutions."

"We were amazed and absolutely thrilled with the work done by Ace Radon. After I called, they set up a time to come out and see what was involved. The estimate was emailed later that same day. When we approved, they scheduled a time to do the mitigation. Both times men were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and neat. They explained what they were doing and answered all our questions. The before radon tested 7.6, and afterwards tested .7 Needless to say, we'd highly recommend them!"

"Every part of the inspection from start to finish was expertly done.  If it weren't for Nate Hollis, RCPIResidential Commercial Property <br /> Inspections, we would have no idea how much was covered up by the "Flipper" with updated appliances, cabinets, flooring and paint.  It is our first home buying experience.  We are so happy and relieved to have Nate Hollis helping with our home buying experience."

"Had an awesome experience with these guys. We had to do both radon mitigation and sump pump installation. I called 5-10 different places to get quotes, they were the most affordable by a decent margin. Kratos was really great- he was on time, very friendly, wasn't annoyed by our dogs constantly being at his side, etc. He finished the job very quickly and gave great education on how the system works and what we should be looking for to ensure it's functioning well. Additionally, he randomly fixed an electrical issue we were having with some outlets! Totally not his job, but I asked him if he knew a good electrician and by doing some basic trouble-shooting he was able to fix it and save us the cost of having an electrician come by! Highly recommend these guys, no reservations whatsoever"

"During the closing process of a house we bought in rural Colorado, we had a radon level of 20 that was discovered during the home inspection.  When I initially called SWAT, the receptionist was extremely helpful over the phone, took detailed notes of what the house looked like and gave me a reasonable quote.  However, when I asked about their company guarantee for their work, the answer wasn't exactly clear.  I was told that the guarantee was for the integrity of the PVC piping (which lasts forever anyway) and a 4-5 yr guarantee for the mechanical fan.  I was under the impression that if the initial system did not get the radon below 4 and the company had to return to the house for further construction, that extra construction would be more money out of my pocket.  Because of this, I decided to try and go with another company who did give a guarantee to get the radon level below 4. <br /> It was only after the other company fell through that we went back to SWAT.  SWAT was actually chosen by the seller of our house and during this process, I was very nervous about the guarantee as described above.  The system was installed exactly the way the technician, Brian, had described it, everything was hidden away, no unsightly PVC piping on the exterior of the house, no pipes in living areas etc.  And, the installation was a very complex process with multiple levels, large crawl spaces and pesky footers.  When the repeat radon test came back at 4.1, SWAT was very responsive.  Considering that the closing date was less than a week away at this point and it depended on an appropriate mitigation system installed, Brian was back up at the house within a few days and installed a bigger fan.  The best part was, there was no extra charge for this, even though the house is 30 miles from town. <br /> While the repeat radon test is currently still pending, I feel confident that it will be below 4, and if it isn't, I am confident that SWAT will stand behind their work.  Throughout the whole process, they were easy to get a hold of, clear on the phone, and knowledgeable about their work.  The only criticism and reason I am not giving them an "A" rating is due to the initial confusion about the guarantee.  If I had been more clear on this, it could have saved me a lot of time and headache from dealing with the other company. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Bailey, CO

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
