"Garik is very professional and caring.we worked on my roof to change 2 turbine vets , the job was little tricky because my turbines were very old and manufacturer does not produce it anymore so he managed to install the new model turbine heads properly. He checks and makes sure everything is working before he leaves. I am very satisfied and will definitely hire him. Thank you"

"First the bad then the good. 1. This project took almost 4 months. We were told a few weeks. 2. Communication between the office and workers needs a lot of work. 3. The estimates were confusing as were the details in the final bill. 4. Final touches were slow and I eventually finished the painting myself. 5. Lack of job oversight by the owner of this company. The good; 1. The mold/mitigation work was swift and well done. 2. Overall the finished product is good but for the price not perfect. I expected this to be wonderful and while I like it I don't love it. 3. We were so glad when it was done. 4. Love the shower tile and wood look floor tile. 5. Love the shower door but it isn't perfectly even. <br />"

"From day one, everything has gone great. With making it easy to choose tile, flooring., etc. Chris was here checking everyday that everything was going alone smoothly, and always answering any questions and concerns. Anytime workers were going to be delayed or was rescheduled, he kept us up to date. <br />The bathroom turned out just as we envisioned. He was very professional and great to work with. We are now considered our second bathroom remodel ! <br />"

"Arnold with AR CarlosInvestments came out to my mothers house for some painting. He and his partner did a great job with two bedrooms and a master bathroom. They payed attention to detail and all the surfaces had a even coat of paint. I would recommened his company to all my family and friends. The price was very reasonable to, quality work!"

"Darren Wilhelm is the owner and contractor. First of all he simply did not want to replace the pipes under this mobile home. Dark, dingy, and cramped damp spidery quarters just are not appealing. After a few days of reflection and the fact I am a Grandma, he came to me and said he would do the job...because he could not find someone he could trust to do the job. He also took a look at the bathroom and agreed the cracked tub had to be replaced. Thus the relationship began. He presented a detailed contract. It was clear and concise and plainly stated that he stands behind his work. What it really meant is that this young father of four with a perfect wife is creative, talented, personable, neat, designer who happens to be a contractor. His work is precise and impeccable. He covered the floors, cleaned up everyday and best of all took care to make sure my Shitzu, Elizabeth Anne did not get out and was safe. I have two adult sons who are developmentally delayed. Darren generously explained what he was doing, chatted with them and accepted them unconditionally. I want to adopt this guy! He has done lots of work for people I know and they all sing his praises. I can't wait for him to remodel my kitchen! He is fair and creative. He won't abandon his client for another job. He doesn't stretch himself so thin the job goes on endlessly. Darren has a way of telling me I'm way off base so expertly I am never offended and after all this work he is right on target. He has style and his best kept secret is he is an excellent craftsman. He can make anything. If you fall in love with something on Pinterest...show him and he can make it! He loves new ideas and challenges. My place is full of both. I would love to show off Darren's expertise and am telling anyone and everyone how wonderful he is. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Bakersfield, CA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
