"Up front let me say that I'm writing this review almost six months after my move. This is because my new house has been undergoing major renovation and I could not open all of the boxes until recently.
Moving Ahead was very professional through the estimating process, showed up on time and seemed to know what they were doing but boy, was I wrong. First of all they don't have real long distance moving vans with air ride suspension. They rented a ordinary 53 foot trailer to do the job. To their credit they did say they would have to rent a trailer at the outset, I just didn't realize it wouldn't have any special suspension. When unloading it became apparent this really did have an effect. Additionally they didn't blanket wrap all of the furniture. Between these two things one desk, two bookcases and a valet stand were irreparably damaged and there were scratches on another bed, desk and credenza. They also managed to break a tempered glass door to a bookcase (could have been easily removed but wasn't). Additionally they did not tape hardware to furniture they took apart which I have been told is standard industry practice. Thus hardware was lost for two beds. The feet to one of the beds and the mounting brackets for the feet were lost as well (I'm having replacements custom made).
When they did show up in Encinitas (on time) no one had tools to reassemble any of the furniture that had been taken apart so I had to find my own among the boxes and lend them to the movers. My experience in the past was that the van driver always had a toolbox. When I asked our driver about this he said "I'm just the driver".
One of the reasons I hired Moving Ahead was that this was to be a sealed trailer without any other loads being added or removed in transit or this load being unloaded and put on another van. I thought this would eliminate the chance of items being lost as well as reduce the possibility of damage. Wrong again. In addition to the various bed hardware items they managed to lose a suitcase containing all or my sweaters (including one hand knit for me by a friend many years ago), the base to an antique globe (irreplaceable), two 8 by 10 foot rugs, a box with my financial files (irreplaceable), all of the shelves to an antique oak secretary's desk as well as smaller items such as a room humidifier, a large ceramic teapot and four Panasonic portable phone handsets and charging bases, etc.
Overall these guys were by far the least expensive of the estimates I got by far so perhaps I just got what I paid for. Still at least for long distance moving, they are just not equipped, experienced and/or trained well enough to handle the job. Despite the price I would not use again.

"They were polite and meticulous. I wish I had more work for them to do! They installed two new appliances for me and also fixed a valve they noticed was leaking. Would definitely hire again."

"Installation was very complicated - tight space under the sink, water filtration system, instant hot system, garbage disposal. Had a three drain system and converted to two."
