"Work went well despite having some uncontrollable problems. The reason why I rate LED electric as an "A" is when problems did occur they took care of them in a responsive and professional manner. Ron and Mike were excellent."

"This is the third job I have awarded to JY Handyman in the past 6 months or so.  Each time all went as I hoped and now expected it to.  Jose and his helper removed the old door and trim and framework.  They were very careful not to damage any of the existing wallpaper. The new door and trim/framework fits perfectly and we are very pleased.
On a scale of 1 to 10 this job gets a solid 10.
We will continue to use JY Handyman (Jose) on our next project.

"Excellent, This is a wonderful company that donated their time and services free to the church, Our church is small and with very limited resources. Texas Vargas Electrical Contractors saw the need and filled the need.  Because of his generosity we can now have outdoor events & activities, without the electric breakers tripping, and can even serve cooked food.  I can't give enough compliments or praises for an awesome job well done.
I would recommend Texas Vargas Electrical Contractors to everyone, he is dependable, professional, honest, hardworking, well spoken, knowledgeable of his trade, and is licensed and insured.
I have used other electricians in the past and was unsatisfied, you won't be disappointed with Texas Vargas Electrical Contractors.

"Great work! I wasn't how they were going to install the fan as there were no connections for it but they got the job done and everything came out perfect. The workers were very professional and you could tell they knew what they were doing. Job well done. Would definitely recommend and will be using in the future."

"The initial meeting went well. The guy I spoke to seemed to know what he was talking about, found out what I wanted, and thought it would be no problem and we would be super happy. I was skeptical because I had just installed an LED light on the garage that I thought was really bright and inquired about the lumen output of the lights he was proposing. Each light they wanted to use was a third of the lighting output of the garage light. I questioned him again about the voltage and light output and he was extremely confident the lights they were going to put up would be more than enough. This is perhaps where I messed up, but I called him on it and agreed to do the installation. The original plan was to put pairs of lights at each corner of my very rectangular house to illuminate the dark spots all around. Somewhere along the way at installation, they only installed three pairs of lights, stating a couple reasons why the corners wouldn't work that I can't remember anymore. What stuck out to me was that the installation would be "easier." The installation overall was very clean and the installers were professional. The new sub-panel was installed underneath my main panel and wires were run neat. The first time coming home at night and looking at the lights can only be described as disappointment. The lights were dim and didn't light up as much as I was led to believe. The lights were also the wrong color (warm). Neither myself or the estimator discussed the light temperature and it didn't cross my mind either until seeing them on. This was easily fixed with a phone call. They came and replaced the bulbs with cool color the next week and it looked better but the light output was still poor. I called a few times after that and with my schedule in the mornings it was hard to get a chance to meet with someone so I've left it alone for the past year. Every day I come home at night the first thing I notice is the lights and how disappointing they are. The garage light drowns out the light from the installation. See the pictures for an example. A week ago our neighborhood had a rash of car break-ins on multiple streets. The light seemed to be enough to deter the 4 criminals from walking up the driveway to check out the cars. My cameras caught them walking by. The next door neighbors dark driveway was not left alone, however. I had originally wanted the lights because of a break-in to one of the cars in my driveway one night so the brighter the better."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Bay City, TX

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
